Summary: In this study, researchers identified PcPT11 as a prenyltransferase in Psoralea corylifolia capable of utilizing 23 substrates for the biosynthesis of prenylated polyphenols. PcPT11 exhibited highly regio-specific prenyltransferase activity at the C-6 position of flavonoids, leading to the production of compounds with important pharmacological effects. The study also demonstrated the strong expression of PcPT11 in fruits and leaves, as well as its localization in chloroplasts when expressed in Nicotiana benthamiana.

Summary: Psoralen and isopsoralen are major components responsible for Psoraleae Fructus-induced hepatotoxicity. This study reveals that their cytotoxic effects are mediated by metabolic activation through cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes. Specific CYP enzymes, such as CYP2C9, 2C19, 2D6, and 2E1, play a crucial role in the metabolic activation of psoralen and isopsoralen. The activation of these compounds by CYP enzymes regulates core targets and signaling pathways, resulting in cytotoxicity.

Summary: In this study, a 1D pi-d conjugated metal-organic framework (MOF), Ni-MOF-1D, is presented as an efficient sulfur host to overcome the shuttling behavior and sluggish conversion kinetics of intermediate lithium polysulfides (LiPS) in lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs). Ni-MOF-1D exhibits a remarkable binding strength to trap soluble LiPS species and acts as an effective catalyst for S reduction and Li2S oxidation. The delocalization of electrons in the pi-d system of Ni-MOF-1D provides superior electrical conductivity, leading to excellent performance in LSBs.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the biomechanical properties of different lengths of fibula with or without calcar screw in osteoporotic proximal humeral fracture. The results showed that the groups with a 12-cm fibular strut had significant improvement in terms of initial stiffness, number of cycles loaded to failure, and relative displacement values compared to the groups with a 6-cm fibular strut, regardless of calcar screw implementation. Furthermore, the groups with calcar screws also demonstrated promising biomechanical stability irrespective of fibular length. Therefore, the use of lateral locking plate with longer endosteal fibular augmentation and calcar screw can significantly improve biomechanical stability for elderly proximal humeral fractures with posteromedial comminution.

Summary: This study aimed to explore a novel oblique triangle configuration (OTC) of three screws for fixing femoral neck fractures based on the morphology of the femoral neck isthmus (FNI). The OTC method provided an ideal spatial configuration for the FNA fixation with the largest area using three parallel screws. The positioning of the posterior screw also reduced the risk of vascular injury and screw penetrating.
