Control of the progressive growth of porphyrin triads from OD to multidimensional nanostructures is achieved. Electron-microscopy images vividly record the growth process and confirm that the molecules are able to self-assemble into spherical vesicles, thereafter continually growing into tadpole-like vesicles, nanotubes, and Y-like nanotubes.
