Summary: Four newly synthesized fluorescent dyes were reported, showing aggregation-induced emission effects and varying fluorescence colors. Interestingly, two of them could be switched in the solid state by mechanical or solvent actions, while the other two exhibited different fluorescence responses.

Summary: Three triphenylethylene benzimidazole derivatives with aggregation-induced emission properties were synthesized, showing different luminescent behaviors due to the choice of connection rings. Their solid-state fluorescence could be effectively adjusted through mechanical grinding and solvent fuming, and they all exhibited reversible mechanofluorochromic performance.

Summary: Two highly emissive donor-acceptor type organoboron dyes, based on carbazole donor and benzothiazole-fused oxadiazaborinine acceptor, exhibit high positive solvatofluorochromism and aggregation-induced emission properties, demonstrating efficient solid-state emission and significant mechanofluorochromic properties. Additionally, a compound with unsubstituted carbazole unit shows two distinct crystalline polymorphs with different photophysical properties.

Summary: The development of a specific light-up sensor for detection of psychoactive drugs is a challenge in forensic analysis. In this study, a fluorescent sensor based on molecularly imprinted polymers was constructed using an aggregation induced emission (AIE) functional monomer. The sensor showed high specificity and sensitivity towards the target analyte, with a detection limit of 0.32 mu mol L-1. This is the first reported AIE-MIP sensor and it can be used as a versatile design for advanced sensors in various fields.

Summary: In this study, a one-pot synthesis of nonconjugated luminescent hyperbranched polymers is achieved via Barbier hyperbranching polymerization-induced emission (PIE) from an AB-type monomer. The resulting hyperbranched polytriphenylmethanols (HPTPM) exhibit tunable luminescent properties depending on the monomer structure and polymerization time.

Summary: This study reports on the rarely reported monomer emission property of tetraphenylethene (TPE) derivative and the need for further research on its supramolecular self-assembly related photoluminescence (PL) mechanism. Two long alkyl chain modified derivatives, TPE-C-10 and pyrene derivative (Pyrene-C-10), were designed and synthesized, showing similar supramolecular assembly behavior but different PL properties. TPE-C-10 exhibited self-assembly morphologies with monomer emission and aggregation-induced emission (AIE), while Pyrene-C-10 did not. Polymer microspheres containing TPE-C-10 and Pyrene-C-10 were prepared, showing luminescence transformation of TPE-C-10 from AIE to monomer emission due to changes in the binding effect of polymer chains. This work provides valuable insights into luminescent materials based on TPE derivative's monomer emission and offers a new method for studying supramolecular self-assembly and luminescence mechanisms.

Summary: Utilizing nonplanar conjugated molecules for self-assembly is challenging but important. In this study, the self-assembly process of a nonplanar conjugated molecule with aggregation-induced emission (ALE) feature was demonstrated, driven by amphiphiles. The superhigh aggregation-sensitive emission provided precise information about the self-assembly process. The arrangements of ALE-active molecules changed from disordered to well-organized forms by reducing the twisted configuration. The obtained vesicles showed superhigh thermal stability and promising light-harvesting applications.

Summary: The complexation of p-conjugated ligands by metal or semimetal ions enhances the planarity and rigidity of pi-conjugated systems. Boron has a key role in the design of luminescent main-group complexes, but suffers from aggregation-caused quenching like typical organic fluorophores. Recent studies have shown that some boron complexes exhibit aggregation-induced emission (AIE) properties and AIE behavior has also been observed in complexes and organometallic compounds of other group 13 elements. These findings encourage the development of advanced functional materials based on group 13 elements, which are versatile scaffolds for constructing chromic luminophores and efficiently emissive pi-conjugated polymers.

Summary: In this study, a novel strategy was developed to prepare supramolecular helical fluorescent nanotoroids by the cooperative self-assembly of an amino acid and a dendritic amphiphile. The mechanism of toroid formation was investigated, and it was found that the interactions between the dendritic amphiphile and the amino acid played a crucial role in the topological morphological transformation.

Summary: This study introduces tetraphenylethylene (TPE), which has aggregation-induced emission (AIE) effect, into UV-curable adhesive and optimizes the concentration of TPE-modified methacrylate (TPE-MA) to achieve blue fluorescence under UV light for visualizing the adhesive's location. By comparing the cured products, it is found that the one with TPE-MA forming covalent bonds has higher fluorescence intensity and better stability. The addition of a small amount of TPE-MA has no significant effect on the adhesive's performance.
