Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the association between the intake of specific fibers with prebiotic activity and laryngeal cancer risk. The results showed that the intake of kestose, raffinose, and stachyose was inversely associated with laryngeal cancer risk, while ITFs, nystose, and 1F-beta-fructofuranosylnystose were not associated with the risk. Current smokers and heavy drinkers with low intake of prebiotic fibers had a significantly higher risk of laryngeal cancer compared to never smokers and moderate drinkers with high intake of prebiotic fibers.

The study developed risk prediction models using data from postmenopausal White women aged 45-85 years. Summary: This study estimated the number of cancers attributable to occupational carcinogens in Italy. By using a counterfactual scenario of no exposure and considering latency, the study calculated the attributable fraction of cancer. The most prevalent occupational carcinogens were found to be UV radiation, diesel exhaust, wood dust, and silica dust. The study highlighted the substantial burden of occupational cancers in Italy and the importance of surveillance of carcinogens in the workplace.

This study evaluated the use of an informative booklet to reduce CINV in cancer patients undergoing their first chemotherapy cycle. The results showed that patients who received the booklet reported a lower frequency of nausea occurrence after chemotherapy. This intervention is cost-effective and time-saving.

Summary: The burden of cancer associated with overweight and obesity in Italy is considerable, with 3.6% of cancers in men and 4.0% in women attributable to overweight and obesity. The most affected cancer types in both sexes include esophageal adenocarcinoma, liver cancer, kidney cancer, pancreatic cancer, colorectal cancer, endometrial cancer, and post-menopausal breast cancer.
