Summary: Fear of childbirth has negative effects on pregnant women during pregnancy and after birth. A study was conducted to evaluate the impact of a training program using motivational interview method on fear of childbirth, childbirth self-efficacy, and delivery mode among first-time pregnant women. Results showed that the program reduced fear of childbirth and increased childbirth self-efficacy, but had no effect on delivery mode.

Summary: This study analyzed the epidemiology and risk factors of fear of childbirth (FOC) in Finland from 2004 to 2018, and evaluated the association between FOC and the rate of elective cesarean section (CS). The study found that higher maternal age and gestational diabetes were strong risk factors for FOC, and the proportion of elective CS was notably higher among women with FOC. This indicates an increase in the incidence of FOC, but the proportion of elective CS in these cases leveled off after 2014.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the motives behind nulliparous women's requests for cesarean section in late pregnancy and the impact of specific personality traits on maternal decision-making regarding mode of delivery. Significant differences in personality types were found between vaginal delivery and cesarean section groups, as well as significantly higher CAQ scores in mothers who requested cesarean section. This study highlights the importance of understanding women's motives and attitudes towards childbirth to potentially reduce unnecessary cesarean sections.

Summary: This study examined the impact of practicing yoga and meditation during pregnancy and labor on the delivery process. The results showed that the intervention group had higher rates of vaginal delivery, lower rates of labor interventions and episiotomy, lower pain scores, and higher self-efficacy scores compared to the control group. However, the intervention group also experienced increased anxiety levels after the intervention.

Summary: Dimension reduction techniques like PCA, PLS, and CCA are extensively used in the analysis of high-dimensional omics data. Integrative analysis, which outperforms meta-analysis and individual-data analysis, has been developed for multiple datasets with compatible designs. We developed the R package iSFun to facilitate integrative dimension reduction analysis, offering comprehensive analysis options under different models and penalties.

Summary: The study evaluated self-reported fear of childbirth and postpartum emotions and found that high FOC measured with FOCP-VAS is better for predicting requested and received non-urgent obstetric interventions in pregnant women. Results showed that FOCP-VAS >= 5 had a better predictive effect on non-urgent obstetric interventions compared to W-DEQ-A >= 66.

Summary: This study found a high prevalence of FOC among pregnant Chinese women, with age, gestational age, parity, spousal support, resilience, and childbirth self-efficacy as predictors of FOC. It is suggested that healthcare professionals should pay close attention to FOC and implement targeted interventions based on these predictors, especially resilience and childbirth self-efficacy.

Summary: This study identified the relationship between maternal fear of childbirth and paternal fear of childbirth, with expectant fathers' stress having a greater impact on their fear of childbirth. It suggests practical implications for improving the fathers' psychological well-being by considering the role of maternal fear of childbirth and expectant fathers' depression, anxiety, and stress.

Summary: A novel robust kernel principal component analysis method with optimal mean (RKPCA-OM) is proposed to enhance the robustness of KPCA by automatically eliminating the optimal mean. The theoretical proof guarantees the convergence of the algorithm and the obtained optimal subspaces and means. Exhaustive experimental results validate the superiority of the proposed method.
