Summary: Bone homeostasis is regulated by the balanced actions of osteoblasts and osteoclasts, which differentiate from different progenitor cells. Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs), including ERKs, play a crucial role in the differentiation and function of osteoclasts. However, the role of ERKs in osteoclast differentiation is still controversial.

Summary: This study investigates the important role of mitogen-activated protein kinase 6 (MAPK6) in high temperature bolting of lettuce. The researchers amplified the full-length coding sequence of the LsMAPK6 gene and analyzed its expression using real-time polymerase chain reaction. The results demonstrate that LsMAPK6 is mainly expressed in the stem, stem apex, and taproot, and its expression is significantly promoted by high temperatures.

Summary: The study demonstrated that GSDMD knockdown and JNK inhibition reduced the expression of apoptosis and inflammatory-related proteins induced by high glucose. GSDMD knockdown can attenuate inflammation and apoptosis in podocytes by inhibiting mitochondrial ROS production and JNK phosphorylation.

Summary: The study demonstrates that overexpression of StMAPK11 can promote potato growth, physiological activities, and photosynthesis under drought conditions, indicating its crucial role in enhancing potato drought resistance. The up-regulation of StMAPK11 intensifies drought resistance by elevating antioxidant activities and photosynthesis, providing new insights into its function in drought response.

Summary: The role of paxillin in signal pathways in phytopathogenic fungi is not well understood. This study reveals that MoPax1 activates MAP kinase signaling pathways and autophagy through its interaction with MoMka1, and plays an important role in appressorium-mediated plant infection by the rice blast fungus.

Summary: In this study, the protective effects of DADS against 1,3-DCP-induced hepatotoxicity and oxidative damage were investigated. The results showed that DADS treatment inhibited the increase in serum aminotransferase levels and reduced histopathological alterations in the liver induced by 1,3-DCP. Additionally, DADS treatment reduced 1,3-DCP-induced apoptotic changes in the liver and inhibited phosphorylation of MAPKs. These protective effects may be related to the inhibition of CYP2E1 expression, enhancement of antioxidant enzyme activity, and reduction of apoptotic activity.

Summary: High temperature induces stomatal opening, but uncontrolled stomatal opening is dangerous for plants. We identified a high-temperature sensitive mutant in maize linked to a single base change in ZmMPK20 gene. The mutant exhibited increased stomatal opening and water loss rate, as well as decreased thermotolerance. Overexpression of ZmMPK20 decreased stomatal apertures, water loss rate, and enhanced plant thermotolerance.

Summary: The study found high expression of ERK1/2 and JNK in river lamprey erythrocytes and liver tissues, with only trace amounts of p38. ERK1/2 and JNK were identified as both cytosolic and membrane enzymes, while p38 was mainly cytosolic. During pre-spawning starvation, the total cellular amounts of ERK1/2 and phospho-ERK1/2 remained relatively stable.
