Summary: The study describes the implementation of evidence-based fall prevention programs by Administration for Community Living grantees from 2014 to 2019. Analysis of the data showed that participation in the programs led to improved confidence, decreased fear of falling, and fewer falls and injurious falls among older adults.

Summary: This study aimed to verify the psychometric qualities of empathy assessment instruments from 2009 to 2019. The Empathy Quotient, Interpersonal Reactivity Index, and Questionnaire of Cognitive and Affective Empathy were the most frequently addressed instruments, showing good internal consistency but weak evidence of validity. While there were diverse instruments available, limitations in terms of validity remain, and a gold-standard instrument has not yet been identified.

Summary: This review provides updated information on evidence-based assessment of substance use disorder, including an overview of assessment targets, instruments, and processes, as well as recommendations. It emphasizes the importance of assessors reflecting on their biases and values and viewing the individual as a whole. The review also provides recommendations for comprehensive substance use disorder assessment and suggests future research directions.

Summary: Electronic cigarettes have gained public attention due to their unique features, but uncertainties remain regarding their determinants and consequences. This systematic review identifies instruments designed to assess various aspects of e-cigarette use or its related constructs, and analyzes the evidence on their psychometric properties. The review provides guidance for practitioners and researchers in selecting appropriate instruments based on constructs, target population, psychometric properties, and instrument length. Future studies should extend the validity of existing instruments for diverse populations and explore additional aspects of e-cigarette use and related constructs.

Summary: Grasslands are crucial for providing ecosystem services in agricultural landscapes, but their shares have significantly declined in Europe. Various regulatory and incentive-based measures, such as the EU's Common Agricultural Policy, have been implemented to address this issue. A study conducted in Bavaria, Germany, examined the temporal and spatial changes in grassland-related policies and their impact on land use conversions. The results indicated that subsidy law played a dominant role in policy changes, and the conversion of permanent grassland correlated with CAP-related changes.

Summary: Globally, the oral health status of elderly residents in nursing homes is poor, highlighting the need for non-dental professionals to be involved in monitoring oral health. This systematic review identified 10 oral health assessment instruments used by non-dental professionals, but found that none provided a comprehensive assessment. Further development of instruments is necessary to address psychometric gaps in oral health assessment.

Summary: Although many instruments are used to assess the families of people with diabetes, their measurement properties have not been systematically reviewed. This study aimed to identify and evaluate the psychometric properties of the instruments used to assess family functioning in adults with diabetes. However, none of the instruments included in the study scored very well in terms of their psychometric properties. More research should be conducted on the existing instruments to assess the less commonly evaluated psychometric properties.

Summary: A major limitation of current suicide research is the lack of power to identify robust correlates of suicidal thoughts or behavior. Variation in suicide risk assessment instruments used across cohorts may represent a limitation to pooling data in international consortia. Our findings suggest that multi-item instruments provide valuable information on different aspects of suicidal thoughts or behavior but share a modest core factor with single suicidal ideation items. Retrospective, multisite collaborations including distinct instruments should be feasible provided they harmonize across instruments or focus on specific constructs of suicidality.

Summary: This paper reports on the development and preliminary psychometric assessment of the treatment integrity measure for early childhood settings (TIMECS), which showed promising reliability and validity. The findings suggest that TIMECS has the potential to assess treatment integrity of teacher-delivered practices designed to address child social and behavioral outcomes of children at risk for EBDs in early childhood settings.

Summary: This study found no statistically significant relationship between therapist adherence and competence and clinical outcomes for youth with anxiety disorders treated with individual cognitive-behavioral therapy. The variability in treatment integrity and clinical outcomes suggest that adherence and competence may not be strong predictors of treatment success for youth anxiety treatment.

Summary: The natural history of psychopathology suggests that many children will experience mental health problems again. A study on service use over a 5-year period identified five patterns, with close to a third of children being involved for longer than a year and 19% receiving two or more episodes of care. Children with longer durations of service use tended to have higher child welfare involvement and fewer strengths in relationships and coping with negative experiences.
