Summary: Targeted imaging using graphene quantum dots (GQDs) as biosensors shows promise for early-stage cancer detection. However, existing GQDs have limitations such as low two-photon absorption and narrow spectral coverage. In this study, a hybrid with high fluorescence and two-photon imaging performance, composed of GQDs and silica nanoparticles (SiO2 NPs), was developed. By further modifying this hybrid with aptamer Sgc8c, it exhibited specific responses to target cells and could be used as a signal-amplifying two-photon nanoprobe for targeted cancer imaging. This signal amplification strategy holds great potential for accurate early tumor diagnosis and broader clinical applications.

Summary: In this work, a new approach for synthesizing carbon dots (CDs) with improved electrochemiluminescent (ECL) performance was disclosed. By engineering luminol as molecular emission centers into the CDs, luminescent groups rich in CDs (Lu-CDs) were synthesized. Lu-CDs exhibited significantly stronger ECL intensity and better consistency between ECL and fluorescence emission compared to traditional CDs. Lu-CDs were employed to construct an ECL biosensor for tumor cell analysis, demonstrating wide detection range and low detection limit.

Summary: In this work, luminescent groups rich carbon dots (Lu-CDs) were synthesized by incorporating luminol into the CDs, resulting in a significantly enhanced electrochemiluminescent (ECL) performance. The ECL emission of Lu-CDs showed excellent consistency with its fluorescence emission, unlike other surface state-dominated CDs. Furthermore, Lu-CDs were used to develop an ECL biosensor for tumor cell analysis, demonstrating a wide detection range and low detection limit.
