Summary: This study investigated the use of Carpathian clinoptilolite powder for removing and recovering ammonium from sludge water. It was found that higher temperatures led to higher loading capacities, with equilibrium reached after 120 minutes and the sorbent capable of further loading ammonium even after being pre-loaded.

Summary: Phosphorus (P) is an essential natural mineral for biological processes and structures that support life in plants and animals. This study aimed to determine the phosphorus (P) sorption characteristics of some soils and derive relevant parameter estimates for predicting and managing phosphorus as well as understanding their relationship with soil properties. The results showed that the amount of phosphorus adsorbed increased with depth, with different soils requiring varying levels of P fertilizer. Correlation analysis revealed significant relationships between soil characteristics and sorption parameters.

Summary: In this study, a modified banana peel biochar (MBPB) was prepared as an adsorbent for efficient removal of As(V) and Pb(II) in wastewater. The absorption mechanism and characteristics of MBPB and pristine banana peel biochar (PBPB) were investigated. The results showed that both biochars exhibited mixture processes of monolayer and multilayer adsorption, with maximum capacities and efficiencies achieved under optimum conditions. MBPB also demonstrated great reusability and selective adsorption of As(V) and Pb(II), providing a feasible method for the utilization of banana peel in wastewater treatment.

Summary: Lead (Pb) is a highly toxic heavy metal that can enter the biological system through the food chain, and lead ion (Pb (II)) can be released into the environment from natural and anthropogenic sources. Among various remediation techniques, adsorption is considered effective for its economic and versatile properties. The study showed that the CS-AC-PVA composite beads have better adsorption capacity for Pb (II) compared to lone CS, AC, and CS-AC beads, with a 44% increase compared to CA-AC beads. The adsorption capacity of CS-AC-PVA beads for Pb (II) was highest at 25 degrees C, following the Freundlich isotherm model with increasing concentrations and decreasing temperatures. This demonstrates the potential of CS-AC-PVA composite beads as an adsorbent for environmental remediation of Pb (II) from aqueous solutions.

Summary: The study reveals the sorption characteristics of direct dye onto flax fibers during the dyeing process, showing that the increase in dye concentration reduces dye consumption while longer dyeing time increases exhaustion. The amount of adsorbate on the fibers rises with initial concentration and dyeing time. Various models can be used to describe the adsorption process, with the Flory-Huggins model standing out for its ability to describe sorption and achieve high coefficient of determination values.

Summary: The modeling of experimental data is important for predicting the mechanism of adsorption systems. Experimental data of pristine and SnO2 functionalized single walled carbon nanotubes with nitrogen dioxide and ammonia gases at varying concentrations were compared with theoretical isotherm models. The Freundlich isotherm showed the best compatibility with the experimental results, indicating the heterogeneous nature of the surface. The calculated constants for the models suggested an increased adsorption capacity in the case of functionalized single walled carbon nanotubes, likely due to increased heterogeneity and enhanced surface area.

Summary: With the rapid development of medical industries, wastewater treatment plants have become dumping grounds for residual antibiotics. This study evaluates the effectiveness of a partial nitrification process in removing sulfamethoxazole and finds that the addition of antibiotics reduces the efficiency of the process.

Summary: The electrospun membranes of PAN nanofiber activated with NaHCO3 showed good adsorption capacity for lead and nickel ions, with a preference for Ni2+ over Pb2+. The adsorption process followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the chemisorption mechanism. Varying the solution pH affected the adsorption capacity, reaching a maximum at pH 7.0, while increasing initial concentrations led to a decrease in removal efficiency.

Summary: Potassium availability to plants is influenced by the adsorption characteristics of soil, with different soil series showing varying levels of K adsorption. The Freundlich model proved to be a better fit for explaining potassium adsorption behavior, with soil physico-chemical characteristics such as clay content, alkaline pH, and organic matter content playing a significant role in K adsorption.

Summary: This study found that the introduction of an acidic regeneration step can improve the adsorption performance on GFH when treating real membrane concentrate, achieving 95% adsorption efficiency. However, in alkaline regeneration, desorption performance significantly decreases when the electrical conductivity of NaOH drops below 90 mS/cm. Regularly replacing NaOH can significantly improve desorption performance.
