Summary: In this paper, a framework is proposed to discover the real functional zones from biased and sparse POIs data. The framework introduces an unbiased inner influence between spatial locations and human activities to learn a balanced and dense latent region representation. A spatial location based clustering method is included to enrich the spatial information and enhance the region functionality consistency. The proposed framework can properly address biased categories in sparse POI data and explore true functional zones with finer granularity.

Summary: We analyzed the temporal patterns of activity in cities around the world using data from the online location-based social network Foursquare. The data set included over 90 million check-ins from 632 cities in 87 countries across 5 continents. We obtained spatial and temporal patterns of activities for each city, quantified their similarities and differences, and constructed a network connecting pairs of cities based on the similarity of temporal visitation patterns. This network revealed the existence of five communities belonging to five different continents, suggesting that temporal activity patterns can be universal with some geographical, historical, and cultural variations.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the trajectories of low back pain and investigate their association with mobility limitations and disability in activities of daily living (ADL-disability) in later life. The study found that individuals with intermediate-stable and high-decreasing trajectories of low back pain had higher odds of mobility limitations and ADL-disability in old age.

Summary: In this study, we propose a trajectory quality calibration framework to address the challenge of predicting human mobility in smart cities. By analyzing real large-scale data, we observe heterogeneity in the quality of users' trajectories. To tackle this, we introduce a calibration network to evaluate the quality of each user's trajectories and integrate quantified quality scores into the training process.

Summary: The study proposes an ensemble classification method that combines multi-source data for classifying urban functional regions. By integrating vector-based building data and points-of-interest data, and utilizing an improved neural network and the "Word2Vec" model, morphological and socioeconomic features are extracted to achieve high classification accuracy.

Summary: Participation in informal STEM learning experiences (ISLEs) is associated with youth's interests and career aspirations in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. However, research on ISLEs has mainly focused on institutional settings that may exclude youth from minoritized demographic groups. This study uses latent class analysis to identify different patterns of childhood participation in ISLEs and finds associations between specific types of ISLEs and disciplinary interests. Results reveal gender differences in participation and highlight the need for reform to be more inclusive of minoritized students.

Summary: Relative muscle power measured by the sit-to-stand (STS) test was found to decrease significantly after the age of 50 years, and was strongly associated with mobility limitations in older adults. The study provides normative data, relevant cut-off points, and MCID values for STS power, which can be used in daily clinical practice.

Summary: Safety is crucial for human-robot cohabitation. The distance between robot links and human body parts is redefined as the distance between two line segments in space, constructing safe constraints based on discrete control barrier function (DCBF). The neural network model is updated effectively using a look-backward-and-forward strategy to predict human motion trajectory. Uncertainty is accounted for by including the root mean square estimation error in the safe constraints. A comprehensive control method is formed by combining the discrete-time control Lyapunov function for human-robot coexistence.

Summary: This study aimed to identify trajectories of OCD-related functional impairment in children and adolescents before, during, and after treatment. It found three different trajectory classes, with most participants showing improvement and maintaining low levels of impairment, while a subgroup with higher levels of ADHD symptoms did not show improvement.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel approach to constructing a local feature descriptor that interweaves texture information to assign unique signatures to key-points, preserving both homogeneous and heterogeneous features while increasing resistance to noise, distortions, and illumination variations. The proposed descriptor requires lower storage and computational complexity compared to existing methods, demonstrating superior performance, robustness, and computational efficiency under various geometric changes, illumination variations, distortions, and noise through comparative studies on multiple publicly accessible datasets with different characteristics.

Summary: Restricting human movement to decrease contact probability and frequency is crucial for mitigating large-scale epidemics. This study proposes a novel network community detection method, the Human Mobility Regularity-based Zoning (HuMoRZ) algorithm, to delineate containment zones that incorporate mobility regularity. The results show that containment zones considering mobility regularity could significantly delay the epidemic peak and critical time, reducing the severity of an epidemic.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel algorithm for detecting points of interest on 3D shapes using projective neural networks. The algorithm projects the labeled training 3D shapes into 2D views and learns features from these views to automatically detect points of interest on test 3D shapes. Experimental results demonstrate significantly superior performance compared to existing methods.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the level of physical activity in the first 6 months after stroke and investigate the association between physical activity trajectories and functional recovery at 6 months after stroke. The results showed that increased physical activity was associated with functional recovery, and interventions targeting individuals with decreasing physical activity in the subacute phase of stroke may play a role in improved functional outcomes.
