Summary: This study evaluated the effect of EGCG on the maturation of diabetic oocytes. The results showed that EGCG could reduce the frequency of abnormal spindle assembly and chromosome mismatches in diabetic oocytes. Additionally, EGCG alleviated abnormal mitochondrial membrane potential, regulated the expression of genes involved in mitochondrial fusion and fission, reduced reactive oxygen species levels, and decreased DNA damage in diabetic oocytes.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanism of two tea-derived polyphenols, EGC and EGCG, on anti-alpha s1-casein allergy. The results showed that both EGC and EGCG significantly reduced levels of mast cell protease, histamine, specific IgE antibodies, and Th2 cytokines in allergic mice, and reduced tissue damage.

Summary: The study demonstrated that EGCG has significant effects on lowering blood glucose levels, improving hepatic and renal toxicity indices, and enhancing antioxidant enzyme activities in the liver and kidney of diabetic mice. EGCG shows promising potential as a therapeutic agent for treating and alleviating the burden of diabetes.

Summary: The mechanism of Doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity is complex, involving multiple cell death forms, with clinical intervention effect not ideal. By inhibiting iron accumulation, oxidative stress, and abnormal lipid metabolism, it is possible to alleviate Doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity-induced ferroptosis and protect the myocardium. Epigallocatechin-3-gallate is a potential candidate phytochemical for combating Doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity.

Summary: Morbid dermal templates, microangiopathy, and abnormal inflammation are the main reasons for the poor healing and recurrence of diabetic wounds. A combination of a methacrylated decellularized extracellular matrix (EM)-based hydrogel system loaded with copper-epigallocatechingallate (Cu-EGCG) capsules was used to create bio-printed dermal scaffolds for diabetic wound treatment. The scaffold promoted angiogenesis, inhibited inflammation, and regulated gene expression, leading to improved wound healing in diabetic rats.

Summary: Novel chitosan films incorporating epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) were developed with improved physical and mechanical properties compared to traditional chitosan films. The addition of EGCG increased thickness, tensile strength, water solubility, and decreased elongation at break, moisture content, degree of swelling, and water contact angles. The films also exhibited enhanced UV-vis barrier capability and opacity, and had a rougher surface structure. EGCG improved the thermal stability of chitosan films by intermolecular hydrogen bonding. Furthermore, EGCG significantly enhanced the antioxidant and antibacterial activity of chitosan films.

Summary: Prenatal alcohol exposure can cause cardiovascular health issues in offspring. This study investigated the effects of the compound EGCG on cardiac dysfunction in mice prenatally exposed to alcohol. The results showed that prenatal alcohol exposure led to cardiac alterations and dysfunction, but postnatal treatment with EGCG restored physiological levels of heart biomarkers and improved cardiac function. These findings suggest that postnatal EGCG treatment can attenuate the damage caused by prenatal alcohol exposure.

Summary: This study evaluated the gut protecting effect of CGA and EGCG, major constituents of coffee and green tea, on d-galactose-induced aging mice. CGA plus EGCG improved cognition deficits and protected gut barrier function more effectively compared to the agents alone. Additionally, CGA and EGCG modulated the gut microbiome and reduced gut inflammation.

Summary: Chronic scrotal hyperthermia (SHT) can lead to serious male reproductive system disorders, mainly due to oxidative stress. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) as a potent antioxidant can alleviate cellular and tissue damage caused by SHT. EGCG improves sperm parameters, testosterone levels, and reduces cellular apoptosis and oxidative stress.

Summary: This study compared the embedding effect of glycosylated peanut globulin and glycosylated casein on EGCG, and discussed the embedding mechanism of EGCG with glycosylated protein. The results showed that the highest encapsulation efficiency of EGCG was 93.89 +/- 1.11%. The hydrogen bond between EGCG hydroxyl group and tyrosine and tryptophan of glycosylated protein is mainly non covalent.

Summary: This study investigated the anti-fibrotic effects of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) on diabetic-induced myocardial fibrosis and its underlying molecular mechanisms. The results showed that EGCG treatment improved cardiac contractile function, attenuated myocardial hypertrophy and injury, activated myocardial autophagy, and alleviated myocardial fibrosis in type 2 diabetic rats.

Summary: Polystyrene microplastics (PS-MPs) have become a concerning pollutant due to their widespread production and usage. This study found that PS-MPs exposure activated hippocampal inflammation and induced anxiety-like behavior in mice. PS-MPs also disrupted gut microbiota, impaired the intestinal barrier, and caused peripheral inflammation. Eliminating the gut microbiota protected against the deleterious effects of PS-MPs and green tea's bioactive constituent EGCG showed preventive potential.
