Summary: With the over-exploitation of global resources, the recycling of gold has become an urgent task. In this study, stable adsorbents with high porosity and outstanding gold adsorption selectivity were designed and synthesized using cross-linked crown ether-based hypercrosslinked porous polymers. These adsorbents showed a high gold uptake capacity and were able to reduce gold ions into gold nanoparticles during the adsorption process, demonstrating their potential for the recovery and reduction of gold.

Summary: The growth of porous aromatic frameworks (PAFs) on the surface of polymer brushes is achieved for the first time. The confined environment provided by the polymer brushes leads to the formation of nanosized and homogeneous spherical PAFs. The size of PAFs can be controlled by adjusting reaction time, grafting density, and concentration of 4-bromobenzene.

Summary: In this study, polydopamine modified imidazolium containing porous organic polymer nanoparticles were synthesized to improve the stability and water dispersibility of nanochannel membranes. The nanoparticles were dip coated onto a polysulfone ultrafiltration supporting layer and crosslinked with another substance, resulting in stiff and continuous nanochannels in the membrane structure. This modification enhanced the water permeability and dye/salt selectivity, and the membrane also demonstrated good stability and anti-fouling property during long-term dye desalination process.

Summary: We demonstrated enhanced ion transport properties of a type-II porous liquid electrolyte that utilizes crown ethers to coordinate and transport Li+ and Mg2+ ions. The 12-crown-4-based electrolyte showed the highest ionic conductivity due to the size match between the crown ether cavity and Li+ ion. Molecular simulations provided detailed insights into the solvation environment and complexation between the ions and crown ethers.

Summary: In this study, two non-interpenetrated three-dimensional COFs, named JUC-596 and JUC-597, were successfully reported by using the combination of tetrahedral and triangular prism building units. JUC-596 exhibited exceptional performance in H-2 adsorption, surpassing previous benchmarks from porous organic materials. The strong interaction between H-2 and COF materials was verified through theoretical calculations.
