Recently, zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) has been widely studied and used as a catalyst in various fields, due to its high specific surface area, tunable channels and thermal and chemical stability. In this paper, ZIF-8 was used as a precursor to fabricate a Ag/ZnO photocatalyst, and the influence of Ag on the photocatalytic activity of ZnO has been explored. All samples were characterised using XRD, SEM, TEM, and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra. The photocatalytic activity of all samples was evaluated by the degradation of a rhodamine B solution under UV light. The results show that ZIF-8 was completely transformed into ZnO when it was calcined at 550 degrees C for 6 h, and Ag was well loaded onto ZnO. The photocatalytic efficiency of ZnO is 92.32%. When ZnO was doped with Ag, its photocatalytic efficiency was highly improved (99.64%). Furthermore, Ag/ZnO exhibited high photocatalytic stability. After five repeated cycles, the photocatalytic activity of Ag/ZnO was highly retained at 97.48%.

A Novel Real-Time Error Adjustment Method With Considering Four Factors for Correcting Hourly Multi-Satellite Precipitation Estimates

Hanqing Chen, Bin Yong, Jonathan J. Gourley, Debao Wen, Weiqing Qi, Kun Yang

Summary: This study found a clear relationship of spatial plane function (SPF) between the retrieval errors of satellite precipitation estimates (SPEs) and four crucial factors, and proposed a novel error adjustment method to correct the real-time satellite precipitation estimates. The new method effectively reduces retrieval errors for various terrains, rain rates, seasons, and climate types, demonstrating general improvement over existing estimates. However, there is room for further improvement, particularly in adjusting rainfall events with higher rain rates.

Summary: The live-streaming industry in China is huge and highly competitive, leading to the formation of "live-streaming guilds" where streamers join forces to improve their rankings on various platforms. This article explores one such guild that operates on the Zhubei platform, revealing how these guilds optimize streamers' performances based on algorithmic parameters disclosed by the platforms. Interestingly, the guilds also manipulate audience reactions by having male workers pose as female streamers to attract generous tipping from straight male viewers.

Regioselective C3-Fluoroalcoholation of Indoles with Heptafluoroisopropyl Iodide via Palladium-Catalyzed C(sp2)-C(sp3) Cross-Coupling in the Presence of O2

Hong Qin, Zhen Zhang, Kai Qiao, Xinran Chen, Wei He, Chengkou Liu, Xiaobing Yang, Zhao Yang, Zheng Fang, Kai Guo

Summary: An efficient method for C3-fluoroalcoholation of indole derivatives was developed, which involves the merging of C-F cleavage and C-C bond coupling. This strategy utilizes free (NH)-indoles and heptafluoroisopropyl iodides as precursors, and constructs derivatizations through the modifiable carbon-oxygen bond. The reaction yields a wide range of structurally valuable organofluorine products with excellent functional group tolerance, and avoids the use of external auxiliaries.

Some statistical inferences of parameter in MCMC approach and the application in uncertainty analysis of hydrological simulation

Pengfei Shi, Tao Yang, Bin Yong, Chong-Yu Xu, Zhenya Li, Xiaoyan Wang, Youwei Qin, Xudong Zhou

Summary: The Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is increasingly popular in uncertainty analysis of hydrological simulation. However, the estimation of the constant standard deviation (02) in the approach is subjective, hindering performance improvement. This study investigates the statistical meaning of parameter 02 and develops a new label called Confidence Level of Model (CLM) to interpret it. The MCMC method based on CLM performs well in generating regular posterior distributions and narrow, symmetrical confidence intervals.

Board culture and bank innovation: Evidence from China

Tianlei Pi, Xiaobing Yang

Summary: This study investigates the influence of board culture on bank innovation and explores the mechanisms involved. Using the cultural context of the East and state-owned bank attributes, data from China's A-share listed banks between 2003 and 2018 were analyzed. Results indicate that indicators of masculinity, indulgence, and cultural diversity are positively correlated with bank innovation, while power distance and uncertainty avoidance are negatively correlated. Further analysis reveals that the impact of Oriental culture on bank innovation is mediated by human capital investment, efficiency, and risk-taking. The findings remain robust after controlling for endogenous issues and factors such as Confucian culture.
