Summary: This study aimed to identify latent classes of polysubstance use among adolescents in Jamaica and explore the association between neighborhood factors and polysubstance use. The prevalence of lifetime polysubstance use was 27.56%, and four classes of polysubstance use were identified. The study found that neighborhoods with high disorder and moderate disadvantage were associated with a higher likelihood of polysubstance use.

Summary: This study investigates the extent to which college graduates disengage from employment-incompatible behaviors during the college-to-work transition. The results show that patterns of high-risk drinking behavior may persist even after the transition into full-time employment, and that lower levels of perceived cohort drinking norms and higher levels of mentoring are associated with a higher probability of maturing out of such behaviors, leading to positive outcomes in terms of mental health and work performance.

Summary: Substance misuse is common in early phases of bipolar disorder, but reducing alcohol misuse can significantly improve the clinical course of the disorder. Cannabis misuse trajectories did not significantly predict relapse risk. Interventions targeting substance misuse should be emphasized in bipolar disorder treatment.

Summary: This study combines traditional statistical methods with machine learning to analyze crime patterns in Milwaukee and Chicago. In Milwaukee, violent crime is associated with concentrated disadvantage, residential stability, ethnic heterogeneity, total population, and spatial lag of violent crime; while in Chicago, violent crime is linked to immigration, owner-occupied housing, professional occupations, college education, ethnic heterogeneity, total population, and spatial lag for violent crime.

Summary: Mid-life adults have higher rates of alcohol and other substance misuse compared to older adults, and social isolation has been linked to higher risk use with increasing age. This study examines the associations between social relationships, drinking, and misuse of sedative-tranquilizers in the aging population. The findings suggest that older co-users may have different social risk factors compared to those in midlife.

Summary: This longitudinal machine learning study demonstrates that alcohol misuse during adolescence can be significantly predicted from brain structure. Binge drinking was the most predictable behavior, with specific brain regions and structures playing important roles in the prediction. The choice of predicted phenotype, ML model, and confound correction technique were crucial in the explorative ML study, highlighting the importance of these decisions in analyzing psychiatric disorders with small effect sizes such as adolescence alcohol misuse.

Summary: This article analyzes the relationship between high levels of tourist intensity and urban crime in Barcelona using the variables of social disorganization theory. The findings indicate that higher levels of tourism are related to a higher volume of property and violent crimes in neighborhoods, mediated by residential instability and national heterogeneity.

Summary: This study surveyed alcohol use and workload among Chinese psychiatrists and explored their associations. The results showed that nearly half of the psychiatrists reported alcohol use, with the percentage being significantly higher in males. Alcohol use was significantly correlated with working hours and outpatient visits per week. Factors such as longer working hours, administrative position, male gender, single/divorced/widowed status, smoking, and working in certain regions were significantly associated with alcohol use. The findings suggest the importance of identifying vulnerable professional groups and implementing targeted interventions to improve healthcare professionals' well-being.
