The dominant epidemic SVV isolates in China have shifted from clusters 1 and 3 to cluster 2 between 2015 and 2019.

Summary: With the expansion of duck breeding industry in China, the infection rate of duck circovirus (DuCV) and the mixed infection rate of DuCV with other diseases have significantly increased. In order to understand the epidemic status of DuCV in China, our laboratory collected 4 disease materials preliminarily diagnosed as DuCV infections. Through PCR amplification and sequence analysis, we found that these 4 viral strains belonged to the DuCV-I type and had a high homology with the German strain AY228555 (98.6%).

Summary: Entry of virus into cells is crucial for a successful infection. This study investigated the entry process of Seneca Valley virus (SVV) into cells and identified key factors involved. SVV was found to enter PK-15 cells through caveolae-mediated endocytosis and macropinocytosis, dependent on low pH, dynamin, Rab5, and Rab7. Understanding the entry mechanisms of SVV provides insights for preventing and controlling SVV infection and contributes to the knowledge of Picornaviridae family.

Summary: This study demonstrates that Seneca Valley virus (SVV) infection leads to cleavage, degradation, and cytoplasmic redistribution of heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein K (hnRNP K). The viral 3C(pro) protease is responsible for the degradation of hnRNP K through the caspase pathway. A cleavage fragment of hnRNP K promotes SVV replication, while hnRNP K inhibits viral replication. hnRNP K interacts with the viral 5' untranslated region (UTR) and knockdown of hnRNP K inhibits SVV replication.
