From June to July 2017, six Seneca Valley virus (SVV) strains were isolated from swine herds exhibiting SVV-associated porcine idiopathic vesicular disease (PIVD) in Guangdong province, China. Complete genomic sequences of these six newly identified strains were genetically and phylogenetically analysed. The results revealed that these six SVV strains were genetically closely related to USA/GBI29/2015 and notably distinct from all previous Chinese strains, indicating the reemergence of new SVV strains in Guangdong province.

Summary: The study revealed that APPV genomes exhibit a relatively unstable change and a slight low codon usage bias. Results showed that both mutation pressure and natural selection impact the codon usage bias of APPV, with natural selection having a more significant influence on the E2 gene.

Summary: PCV3, a highly contagious virus causing severe dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome, has a worldwide distribution and significant economic impact on the swine industry. The phylogenetic analysis showed dispersed Rep genes in PCV3a and clustered Cap genes into distinct clades by genotypes. The study revealed a bias in codon usage and suggested natural selection as the main force influencing the pattern in PCV3.

Summary: The study highlights the role of anti-inflammatory regulators PTX3, Del-1, and GDF-15 in the inflammatory response caused by H5N1 and H9N2 AIV infections in birds and mammals. The findings show that overexpression of these factors can inhibit the expression of inflammatory cytokines, offering insights into potential host-specific anti-inflammatory agents for combating avian influenza viruses.

Senecavirus A-induced glycolysis facilitates virus replication by promoting lactate production that attenuates the interaction between MAVS and RIG-I

Summary: Senecavirus A (SVA)-induced porcine idiopathic vesicular disease has caused significant economic losses worldwide. This study reveals that SVA infection induces glycolysis and lactate production to facilitate virus replication, while inhibiting type I interferons mainly through attenuating the interaction between MAVS and RIG-I. These findings provide a new perspective on the relationship between metabolism and innate immunity in SVA infection, suggesting that targeting glycolysis or lactate production may be effective strategies against the virus.
