Summary: NewMOF compounds [Zn-2(SDBA)(3-ATZ)(2)]& BULL;solvent I and II were found to effectively convert benzaldehyde dimethyl acetal to 1-(1,3-dinitropropan-2-yl)benzene through a 4-step cascade reaction. This reaction utilized the tetrahedral Zn centers of the MOF compounds as Lewis acidic sites and the free amino groups of the 3-amino triazole ligand as strong Lewis base centers. The importance of spatially separated functional groups in multistep tandem catalysis was highlighted.

Summary: An efficient and environmentally friendly aerobic radical cascade reaction has been developed for the synthesis of a diverse range of 2-thio-substituted quinolines using o-vinylphenylisocyanides and thiols, without the need for additional catalysts or oxidants. Mechanistic investigations revealed that the reaction is initiated by a thiyl radical generated under aerobic conditions, which then undergoes radical annulation with a vinyl substituent.

Summary: Various benzofuran derivatives were synthesized through a catalyst-free reaction between nitroepoxides and salicylaldehydes under K2CO3 and DMF at 110 degrees C, resulting in yields ranging from 33-84% after 12 hours. The highest yields were achieved using 3-nitrosalicylaldehyde. A plausible mechanism was proposed for the reaction, supported by evidence such as the detection of released acetate anion using FTIR and the isolation and structure determination of a critical intermediate.
