Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness of implementing culture change on the main stakeholders living and working in an Israeli nursing home through longitudinal qualitative methodology. The findings suggest that implementing culture change in a nursing home is a complex process that requires adaptation in the values, expectations, and perceptions of care of all those involved. Specific attention should be paid to the unique needs of each stakeholder group to ensure their engagement and cooperation in the change process.

Summary: This qualitative study examined nursing staff members' experiences with the implementation of the Household Model in a nursing home setting through conventional content analysis of interview data. Participants described the impact of implementation in relation to antecedents, explicit reactions, and change consequences, highlighting barriers, facilitators, and outcomes such as role strain and harder working conditions. This study suggests further research is needed to explore how nursing staff experiences with person-centered care models in nursing homes relate to implementation effectiveness and the support needed for nursing home staff.

Summary: Despite using rigorous methods and large sample sizes, the study found that increases in culture change practices in nursing homes were not significantly associated with improved resident-level quality outcomes. This suggests that other factors may play a more important role in determining quality outcomes in nursing home settings.

Summary: Using a dynamic stochastic model, we examine the impact of green efforts, capital stocks, and investments on a firm's Green Tobin's q. Our empirical results show a negative effect of green technologies on Tobin's q, while green stockholder pressure has a positive effect. In addition, we contribute to the current debate on pressing issues in energy transition by providing empirical evidence.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of antibiotic stewardship programs on antibiotic use rates in nursing homes. The results showed that the intensity of antibiotic stewardship policies increased over time and was associated with a decrease in antibiotic use for all residents and those with Alzheimer's disease. However, the decrease in antibiotic use was not significant for Alzheimer's disease residents with urinary tract infections.

Summary: Using natural resource-based view theory, this study examined the relationship between green supply chain management, green training, green organizational culture, and firm performance. Data was collected from 650 participants in the Chinese manufacturing sector through a survey questionnaire. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test the hypotheses. The findings support the positive impact of green supply chain management on firm performance and highlight the mediating role of green training, as well as the moderating role of green organizational culture.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the relationship between patient safety culture in skilled nursing facilities and successful community discharge for post-acute care residents. The results showed that teamwork and supervisor expectations and actions promoting resident safety were significantly associated with increased likelihood of successful community discharge, suggesting nursing home leaders may want to focus on these areas for quality and safety improvement.

Summary: Field studies have shown the benefits of error management culture on organizational performance, but the question of how to induce such culture remains unanswered. Two experiments were conducted to induce error management culture in newly formed teams and explore its effects on performance in an experimental setting. The results showed that error management culture had an indirect effect on performance through communication in the teams, but culture strength did not moderate this relationship.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has brought attention to the internal problems in nursing homes and highlighted the need to improve infection control, safety procedures, and resident quality of life. Meaningful reforms in nursing homes should include ensuring 24/7 RN coverage, improving nurse competencies, enhancing workforce recruitment and retention, as well as supporting care delivery models that strengthen the role of RNs for resident-centered care.

Summary: Nursing homes in the United States often lack adequate nursing staff and a homelike environment, which was further exacerbated during the pandemic. The main reasons for these issues are the low reimbursement from state Medicaid payment systems and the lack of government accountability for how nursing homes spend their funding. To address these problems, reforms are needed in the payment system and oversight of nursing home expenditures.

Summary: Although some states have concerns about the woodwork effect, our study shows that expanding Medicaid HCBS does not lead to increased enrollment. Instead, it is associated with reduced nursing home population and institutional Medicaid LTSS spending. Each dollar directed to HCBS leads to $0.26 savings from decreased nursing home use, allowing states to serve more LTSS recipients at a lower cost.
