Summary: This study aims to compare the inter-rater agreement of transvaginal ultrasonography (TVS) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in diagnosing adenomyosis and assessing imaging features. The results showed that TVS had higher agreement in diagnosing adenomyosis, while MRI had higher agreement in assessing specific features.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the changes in blood flow in adenomyosis patients after higher-dose oxytocin (OT) and to evaluate its safety. The results showed that OT effectively reduced the blood flow volume in the lesions of adenomyosis, and continuous intravenous infusion of 0.12 U/min of OT is an appropriate and safe dose.

Summary: The diagnostic accuracy of transvaginal ultrasound (TVUS) for adenomyosis is high and comparable to MRI. Among the eight sonographic criteria, only five were assessable, with echogenic subendometrial lines and buds being the best individual criterion. Limited data exists for the various sonographic criteria, requiring further studies to compare their performance.

Summary: The value of conventional ultrasound-based superb microvascular imaging (SMI) and color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI) in the diagnosis of malignant thyroid nodule was evaluated and compared through meta-analysis. The results showed that SMI has better diagnostic efficiency for malignant thyroid nodules compared to CDFI, providing more information on vascularity and having better clinical application value.

Summary: This study explores the role of temporal artery biopsy (TAB) in a sequential giant cell arteritis (GCA) fast track pathway (FTP). It suggests that TAB plays an important role when temporal artery ultrasound (US) is negative or inconclusive. The sensitivity of TAB improves with a specimen length >= 15 mm and when performed within the first 10 days of starting corticosteroids. Clinical predictors of a positive biopsy include jaw claudication, elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and elevated C-reactive protein.

Summary: Due to its complex clinical presentation, hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) often leads to delayed diagnosis or misdiagnosis. Imaging, specifically ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, can play a crucial role in detecting the inflammatory activity and early subclinical and dermal features of HS, as well as accurately characterizing the morphology of lesions. This narrative review provides an overview of the applications of these imaging modalities in HS.

Summary: Multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) provides enhanced diagnostic accuracy in the detection of prostate cancer, but has limitations. This critical review aimed to summarize the available evidence on ultrasound-based and nuclear medicine imaging technologies in the initial diagnosis of PCa. Micro-ultrasound (micro-US) appears to be an appealing diagnostic strategy, while multiparametric US (mpUS) and prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) PET/CT also show potential. However, further research is needed to confirm their reliability.

Summary: The study aimed to examine the diagnostic value of transvaginal color Doppler ultrasonography plus serum beta-HCG dynamic monitoring in intrauterine residue after medical abortion. A total of 200 pregnant women who underwent medical abortion from January 2017 to December 2019 were divided into two groups. The study found that serum beta-HCG, P, and FSH levels combined with intrauterine ET, PSV, and RI values can enhance the diagnostic accuracy of intrauterine residue after medical abortion.

Summary: In this study, we propose a new 3D motion compensation (MoCo) framework that combines 3D velocity field estimation and a two-step compensation strategy for 3D diverging wave compounding imaging. Our framework formulates the estimation of 3D velocity fields as a global optimization problem by exploring the constraints of a round-trip scan sequence of 3D diverging waves, i.e., Doppler and pair-wise optical flow, and further regularization by divergence-free and first-order smoothness. The two-step compensation strategy compensates for 1D and 2D displacements, resulting in higher image contrast, higher structural similarity, and better speckle patterns compared to the corresponding 1D-MoCo method.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of neovascularity in patients with painful unilateral rotator cuff tendinopathy using different ultrasound techniques. The results showed that superb microvascular imaging (SMI) was superior in detecting neovascularity compared to conventional Doppler techniques, and it had a better correlation with pain and functional deficit. SMI also showed vascularity to a lesser degree in asymptomatic tendons.

Summary: Hydrosalpinx is an important factor in reproduction and ultrasound is an effective non-invasive technique for diagnosing it. This study aimed to summarize and report the current evidence on the accuracy of transvaginal sonography (TVS) in diagnosing hydrosalpinx. Six studies were analyzed, involving 3974 women and 4144 adnexal masses, with 118 cases of hydrosalpinx. The overall sensitivity of TVS in diagnosing hydrosalpinx was 84%, with a specificity of 99%, positive likelihood ratio of 80.7, negative likelihood ratio of 0.16, and DOR of 496.

Summary: This study investigated the correlation between the Residual Cancer Burden (RCB) index and overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in women undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer. The results showed a significant relationship between the RCB index and the risk of relapse and death, suggesting the potential of RCB classification as a prognostic indicator.

Summary: This systematic review investigates the efficacy and safety of hormone therapy (HT) for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients. The results show that HT is effective in treating menopausal symptoms and does not significantly impact disease activity in SLE. However, a randomized clinical trial reveals an increased risk of thrombotic events with hormone therapy.

Summary: This study compares the effects of anterior and posterior vaginal approaches in sacrospinous ligament fixation on anatomical structures and correlates them with body mass index (BMI). The results show no difference in the distances measured in the two approaches, while the distances from the fixation point to the pudendal artery and nerve are directly proportional to the BMI.

Summary: Women with premature ovarian insufficiency have lower bone density compared to healthy women. Hormone therapy with estrogen + progestin has a protective effect on bone mass. Higher doses of estrogen and continuous use of oral contraceptives also have a positive impact. Interrupting hormone therapy for more than a year is associated with significant bone loss.

Summary: The expression levels of miR-96-5p and miR-182-5p have been found to be upregulated in breast cancer, while the protein expression of FOXO3A is decreased. This phenomenon is more prominent in triple-negative breast cancer, suggesting the important role of these molecules in the biology and clinical behavior of this tumor type. These findings provide new perspectives for alternative target therapy options for breast cancer patients expressing both FOXO3A and its regulatory miRNAs.

Summary: Our study aimed to investigate the effects of hormonal and metabolic factors on endometrial quality and progesterone action. Subjects were recruited from an outpatient reproductive endocrinology clinic. Endometrial biopsies were performed before and after progesterone treatment, and metabolic and hormonal serum levels were evaluated. The endometrium of women with PCOS in the second phase showed histomorphometric abnormalities, which were associated with androgen and insulin levels despite progesterone supplementation.

Summary: This review aims to assess the relationship between serum vitamin D levels and in vitro fertilization (IVF) results. The selected 18 articles showed mixed results, with some indicating a positive correlation, some lacking any association, and one exhibiting a negative correlation. Non-Hispanic White patients may be more affected by vitamin D deficiency compared to Asian patients. Vitamin D levels may play a role in the follicular fluid levels and immune system, impacting embryo implantation and pregnancy.

Summary: The frequencies of iNKT cells and their subsets were evaluated in patients with deep endometriosis. The study found a lower number of iNKT and DN iNKT cells in the blood of endometriosis patients, and an increase in the secretion of IL-17. These findings suggest that iNKT cells may play a role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.
