Summary: A molecularly imprinted polymer was constructed for the first time using the dummy imprinting strategy with homopiperonylamine as the dummy template. The polymer showed high selectivity towards amphetamine-type stimulants and could rapidly adsorb them from water. It also exhibited low matrix effects and could be used for the pretreatment of these stimulants in alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.

Summary: Researchers proposed an alternative strategy to extract aflatoxins AFB1, AFB2, AFG1, and AFG2 from complex food samples using molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) synthesized via a low-cost and rapid sonochemical polymerization. The MIPs-based solid phase extraction showed appreciable recovery rates (65-90%) and good reproducibility (RSD <= 6%, n = 3) on 17 dietary supplements, and exhibited selectivity towards other mycotoxins compared to commercial immunoaffinity columns. This strategy offers a more affordable and better-performing alternative to traditional immunoaffinity columns.

Summary: In this study, a simple and reliable surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) method was developed for sensitive and selective detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in peanut samples. The method used dummy molecularly imprinted polymers (DMIPs) to selectively enrich AFB1 from the samples, and a thioctic acid-decorated AgNPs monolayer film (TA-AgNPs MF) as a SERS-active substrate to determine the amount of AFB1. The SERS assay showed high detection sensitivity for AFB1 in peanut samples with a limit of detection of 0.1 μg L-1 and a linear concentration range from 0.1 to 10 μg L-1.

Summary: Redox-active MIP-Gly NPs were developed by incorporating ferrocenylmethyl methacrylate into the synthesis process, enabling them to selectively determine glyphosate without the need for redox probe. MIP-Gly NPs synthesized using allylamine and squaramide-based monomers exhibited the highest selectivity. The MIP-Gly NPs modified Pt-SPEs were characterized using differential pulse voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, with changes in the oxidation peak of the ferrocenyl moieties serving as the analytical signal. The chemosensor showed a low limit of detection and a wide linear dynamic concentration range for glyphosate, allowing successful detection in spiked river water samples.

Summary: Two distinct new dummy-template molecularly imprinted polymers (D-MIPs) were prepared for selective extraction of paclitaxel (PTX) using different template molecules, exhibiting high adsorption capacity and selectivity. Both 10-DAB-MIPs and SC-MIPs could effectively enrich PTX from structural analogs and act as drug carriers in complex biological systems. Summary: In this work, a novel approach using shape-recognition polymers was developed to purify [C-11]Raclopride. Molecular imprinting technology (MIT) applied to solid phase extraction (MISPE) was used to selectively extract [C-11]Raclopride in the presence of a high amount of its precursor. The synthesized imprinted polymers showed high retention capacity and selectivity in MISPE experiments, but faced challenges in the current synthetic process due to high backpressures and long elution times.

Summary: In this study, an ionic covalent organic framework (iCOF) surface grafting monolithic sorbent was prepared for in-tube solid-phase microextraction (SPME) of aristolochic acids (AAs) in various samples. The density of quaternary ammonium ions in the iCOF was modulated for enhanced adsorption of AAs. The iCOF surface grafting monolithic sorbent was confirmed by different means. Several operating conditions were optimized to develop the online in-tube SPME-HPLC method, which showed good linearity, low limits of detection, and high recoveries for AAs in serum samples. This study presents a feasible approach for the application of COF-based monolithic sorbents in sample preparation.

Summary: A chitosan-alginate sponge with multiple cross-linking networks was developed for adsorption and enrichment of anionic dyes from food samples. The sponge showed better three-dimensional network structure, mechanical behavior, and stability compared to pure chitosan and alginate sponges. The adsorption performance and selectivity of the sponge were systematically studied, and it maintained high adsorption capacity and selectivity for anionic dyes. The sponge also showed satisfactory reusability and was successfully combined with high-performance liquid chromatography for the enrichment and detection of anionic dyes in candy and cocktail samples.
