Co3V2O7(OH)(2)center dot 2H(2)O hexagonal microplatelets with the thickness of 1-2 mu m and the diameter of 15 -20 mu m have been successfully prepared on a large scale via a hydrothermal process without using any templates or surfactants. Electrochemical evaluation revealed that the as-prepared Co3V2O7(OH)(2)center dot 2H(2)O hexagonal microplatelets exhibited high discharge capacity and good cyclability. The reversible capacity of 288.1 mA h g(-1) was delivered after 50 cycles at a current density of 50 mA g(-1), with Coulombic efficiency of about 98%. The present work will greatly expand the range of the anode materials choices for lithium-ion batteries. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
