Summary: This study addresses the issues of high switching power requirements and device variabilities in metal-insulator-metal structures by using ultraporous dielectrics for high-performance resistive memory devices. The ultraporous films exhibit ultrahigh on/off ratio and ultralow switching voltages, making them promising for large-scale neuromorphic and memory applications. The synthesis methodology provides a compatible, inexpensive route that is scalable and compatible with existing semiconductor nanofabrication methods and materials.

Summary: Many analytical models have been developed to estimate the infiltration rate, but they usually assume a constant groundwater flux, which is not realistic. This study presents a new analytical model and inverse approach to accurately estimate the transient vertical groundwater flux.

Summary: In this study, 650 μm thick PADC foils were exposed to accelerated ions and etched to reveal latent tracks with concave walls near the aperture. By studying the curvature of track walls, researchers gained a better understanding of the physico-chemical interactions during the etching process. Simulation results based on experimental data showed promise for fabricating controlled shape pores in polymer membranes.

Summary: A high temperature superconducting probe made of YBa2Cu(3)O(7-delta) (YBCO) was proposed, fabricated, and evaluated for scanning probe microscopy. The probe was cut from a c-axis-oriented bulk without critical damage to the superconductivity. It was sharpened to a tip radius of approximately 1 μm using a focused Ga ion beam. A clear AFM image was obtained using the YBCO probe glued to a quartz-tuning fork.

Summary: In this study, the characteristics of poly (L-lactide) (PLLA), poly (D-lactide) (PDLA), and their blend (stereocomplex; SC) were investigated using terahertz spectroscopy. The spectra of PLLA and PDLA showed no obvious difference, indicating that chirality did not affect their spectra. However, the SC sample exhibited a complex peak shift behavior different from the homo-crystals. The results suggest that the vibration modes in polylactide differ around 8 THz, with lower frequencies attributed to intermolecular vibrations and higher frequencies attributed to intramolecular vibrations.

Summary: In this study, the broadband vibrations of poly L-lactide were investigated using multiple techniques and methods. Through experimental and computational analysis, the inter- and intra-molecular vibrations were examined, with classical molecular dynamics calculations proving to be a particularly powerful tool for understanding these interactions.

Summary: The FT-THz spectroscopy was used to investigate PLLA samples crystallized at different temperatures, revealing characteristic absorption peaks that can be utilized for optimizing PLLA polymorphism. This nondestructive evaluation technique shows potential for further research on biodegradable polymers.
