Summary: Excessive maternal fructose intake may lead to abnormal liver function in offspring, increasing the risk of developing metabolic disorders. This abnormal hepatic programming induced by an imbalanced maternal nutritional environment is likely to be maintained throughout life and contribute to metabolic disorders.

Summary: The IGF family of ligands, receptors, and binding proteins play critical roles in normal human physiology and disease states. IGF-I regulates cellular growth, differentiation, and survival to control overall body growth, while IGF-II has important effects prenatally and in tissue-specific roles in adults.

Summary: A systematic review of the effects of lycopene on circulating IGF-1 and IGFBPs in adults found no consistent modifying effect of lycopene supplementation on IGF-1 and IGFBP levels. More research is needed to explore the effect of lycopene on the IGF-1 system.

Summary: This study evaluates the contribution of protein nutrition and the GH/IGF-I system to body growth regulation. The results show that a reduction in serum EAA concentration hinders Igf1 transcription and decreases serum IGF-I levels. Restoring serum IGF-I levels through recombinant IGF-I infusion rescues body growth, indicating the importance of EAAs for animal growth.

Summary: The GH/IGF system plays a role in growth regulation in the body. By studying the basal chordate amphioxus, it was discovered that most members of the GH/IGF system are present in amphioxus, providing strong evidence for the origin of this system in amphioxus.

Summary: Intracerebroventricular administration of IGF-2 suppresses food intake in chicks, suggesting a potential role in satiety signals. Fasting significantly increases hepatic IGFBP-1 and -2 mRNA levels, but has no effect on hypothalamic IGFBP mRNA levels.

Summary: This article reviews recent research on 3D food printing, including improving food ink printing performance through different protein sources, using high internal phase emulsion or oleogels as fat replacements and nutrition delivery systems, and incorporating functional active ingredients. It discusses the importance of 3D food printing for improving appetite and dietary intake in the elderly, while also addressing critical obstacles such as energy supplements, nutrition balance, and recipe customization. By combining big data and artificial intelligence technology, personalized and customized geriatric foods based on individual traits can be achieved. This article provides a theoretical basis and development direction for future 3D food printing for the elderly.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in food consumption and nutrition intake in Kazakhstan from 2001 to 2018. The findings showed a significant increase in per capita food consumption during this period, with a decrease in the consumption of crops, vegetables, and milk. Meat consumption was similar in both urban and rural areas, but there were differences in other food consumption between these areas. The changes in food consumption quantity and structure also had an impact on nutrient intake and the proportion of nutrients, with per capita energy intake increasing remarkably in national, urban, and rural areas.

Summary: This review discusses the effects of endocrine disruptors on the IGF system, focusing on different categories of EDs and their potential molecular mechanisms. While there is a lack of studies linking ED exposure to changes in IGF levels for some ED classes, this remains an area of concern that requires further research to improve reproducibility and determine the degree of risk EDs pose to the IGF system.

Summary: The study found that bearded reedlings showed variation in their IGF-1 reaction norms during food shortages, with heavier individuals more likely to decrease IGF-1 levels. This individual by environment interaction may have important implications for the evolution of IGF-1 related hormonal phenotypes in this species.

Summary: This study investigated the role of estrogen receptors (ERs) in vitellogenesis (Vtgs) regulation in pompano fish. The findings suggest that E2 may regulate the expression of different subtypes of vtg through ERs, displaying a compensatory expression effect on the regulation of ers and vtgs. This provides a theoretical basis for further research on reproductive endocrinology in pompano fish.

Summary: Endocrine changes during bird reproduction, particularly the relationship between prolactin and incubation behavior, were investigated. The study monitored the physiological status and incubation behavior of Silkie hens over 1-2 years. The results showed that most mature hens exhibited incubation behavior multiple times, and there was a noticeable increase in nest occupancy 7-10 days before incubation onset. Protein analysis revealed that secreted prolactin during the reproductive cycle contains various isoforms, suggesting post-translational modifications like glycosylation and phosphorylation.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on academics, particularly on those with minoritized identities or who were early career, caregivers, or had intersecting identities. The pandemic altered the impact factors of academia, including scholarly products, and affected the way individuals could respond. It is predicted that the pandemic will have long-term impacts on the population dynamics, composition, and landscape of the academic ecosystem. The number of journal submissions decreased, especially among women authors, and the pandemic heavily impacted women authors from Asia and the Middle East.
