Summary: The present study aimed to investigate the significance of targeting protein for Xenopus kinesin-like protein 2 (TPX2) expression in osteosarcoma. The results showed that TPX2 was overexpressed and miR-29c-3p was downregulated in osteosarcoma. High expression of TPX2 was associated with a poor prognosis. MiR-29c-3p could inhibit the proliferation of osteosarcoma cells via TPX2 downregulation.

Summary: The study revealed that miR-1297 can inhibit proliferation and tumor growth in osteosarcoma by directly targeting CCND2. Overexpression of miR-1297 significantly suppressed CCND2 protein expression and resulted in similar phenotypic effects as CCND2 downregulation. Therefore, miR-1297 may represent a novel therapeutic target for osteosarcoma.

Summary: This study found that POSTN is highly expressed in osteosarcoma and is closely related to poor prognosis. Transfection of a POSTN-shRNA plasmid effectively inhibits the proliferation, invasion, and migration of osteosarcoma cells, indicating that POSTN may promote the progression and metastasis of osteosarcoma by activating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.

Summary: In this study, the function of lncRNA HOTAIR in the proliferation of human nucleus pulposus (NP) cells of intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) was investigated. The results showed that HOTAIR can suppress proliferation by directly targeting miR-130b. Additionally, HOTAIR upregulation significantly reduced CyclinD1 protein expression through the PTEN/AKT signaling pathway. These findings suggest that HOTAIR may be a potential target for the treatment of IDD.

Summary: In early-onset preeclampsia (EOPE), decreased expression of MALAT1 and PFKFB3 is associated with endothelial cell dysfunction. PFKFB3 modulates the proliferation, migration, and tube formation of ECs by regulating glycolysis, while MALAT1 regulates PFKFB3 expression by sponging miR-26a/26b. MALAT1 knockdown reduces EC angiogenesis by inhibiting PFKFB3-mediated glycolysis flux, suggesting that strategies targeting PFKFB3-driven glycolysis may be a promising approach for EOPE treatment.

Summary: Circ_LRP6 plays a role in the occurrence and development of osteosarcoma by affecting the proliferation, migration, and invasion of osteosarcoma cells. It interacts with miR-122-5p and miR-204-5p and modulates their target gene HMGB1. The downregulation of miR-122-5p and miR-204-5p and the overexpression of HMGB1 partially restore and weaken the inhibitory effect of circ_LRP6 on osteosarcoma progression.

Summary: Limb and CNS expressed 1 like (LIX1L) is over-expressed in various tumors, especially hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Overexpression of LIX1L enhances proliferation, migration, and invasion of HCC cells, while reducing glucose consumption and lactate production. Through upregulation of miR-21-3p and suppression of FBP1, LIX1L promotes HCC growth and metastasis. Inhibition of miR-21-3p could suppress tumor growth in an orthotopic tumor model.

Summary: The study used IVT-SAPAS sequencing to analyze the dynamic changes of APA sites during adipogenesis in bovine subcutaneous preadipocytes and intramuscular preadipocytes. The results showed that APA plays an important role in adipocyte differentiation, and UTR-APA switching genes have different trends, with intramuscular preadipocytes tending to use shorter 3'UTR for differentiation. TRIB3, WWTR1, and INSIG1 play important roles in intramuscular preadipocyte differentiation.

Summary: This study investigates the genetic diversity and natural selection of the Pfama-1 gene in Plasmodium falciparum isolates from Cameroon. The study finds a considerable nucleotide and haplotype diversity, as well as specific mutations in Cameroonian isolates. Positive diversifying selection and the identification of selected codon sites suggest the potential implication of these genetic variations in host immune pressure and parasite-binding complex modulation. The findings provide valuable baseline data for malaria vaccine design.

Summary: RSC is an essential ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling complex in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It regulates nucleosome-depleted regions (NDRs) by sliding flanking nucleosomes away from NDRs. Depletion of RSC leads to nucleosome encroachment in NDRs and transcription initiation defects. The study compared the effects of catalytic-dead Sth1 and rapid depletion of Sth1 on transcription. Rapid depletion of Sth1 reduces recruitment of TBP and Pol II, while the catalytic-dead mutant exhibits a severe reduction in TBP binding but accumulates Pol II in coding regions. The results suggest a role for RSC in transcription elongation and termination processes.

Summary: This study analyzed the expression of Ptpn1 and miR-124-3p in testicular tissues of mice and investigated their regulatory relationship. The results showed that Ptpn1 expression was up-regulated in adult mouse testis compared to juvenile mouse testis, while miR-124-3p expression showed an opposite pattern. Further analysis suggested that the down-regulation of miR-124-3p may contribute to the high expression of Ptpn1 in adult mouse testis.

Summary: This study found that exosomes secreted by young BMSCs can promote the healing of tendon-bone interface after rotator cuff tears. These exosomes can improve extracellular matrix remodeling, osteogenic differentiation, angiogenesis, and stemness of tendon-derived stem cells (TDSCs). The exosomes from young BMSCs have better effects compared to those from aged BMSCs.
