Summary: This research developed a method using functional imidazole-based ionic liquid-modified magnetic chitosan nanoparticles and UPLC-MS/MS for the simultaneous pre-concentration and determination of twenty-two antibiotics and their metabolites in milk samples. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized, and experimental variables were optimized. The proposed method showed good linearity and minimized matrix effects, with high recoveries and low limits of detection. Residual antibiotics were found in a significant number of milk samples, but the human health risks from milk consumption were found to be negligible.

Summary: This review discusses the preparation, drug delivery applications, and current status of green synthesis of chitosan. It highlights the lack of systematic research in the green synthesis of chitosan and calls for more innovative green processes to be explored. Additionally, there is a lack of reports on the application of green synthesized chitosan nanoforms and nanocomposites towards drug delivery applications, which is an area that deserves more research focus.

Summary: Magnetic chitosan nanocomposites with multifunctional tasks such as localized tumor heating under magnetic field and controlled drug release are highly demanded. Combining different types of magnetic cores and engineered chitosan shells can create unique characteristics with biocompatibility, the least toxic effects, controlled drug release, and the ability to carry various medicines for long-term circulation in the body. Recent advances in the synthesis and applications of magnetic chitosan nanocomposites for hyperthermia and drug delivery are summarized in this review.

Summary: Nanotechnology has found unique applications in drug delivery, cosmetics, fabrics, water treatment, and food packaging. Chitosan, a nanoparticle derived from natural polysaccharide chitin, has gained attention in modern medicine for its unique properties. This review examines the cytotoxicity of chitosan nanoparticles in biomedical research, revealing low cytotoxicity regardless of particle composition or assay method. However, thorough characterization and cytotoxicity assessment are recommended for new chitosan derivatives and compositions before market implementation.

Summary: Safe delivery of hydrophobic drugs to the tumor site is a challenging task for the scientific community. In this study, iron oxide nanoparticles coated chitosan with [2-(methacryloyloxy) ethyl] trimethyl ammonium chloride (METAC) (CS-IONPs-METAC-PTX) were developed as a drug carrier for hydrophobic drug delivery. The drug carrier exhibited excellent therapeutic efficacy and selectivity when tested in cell lines, demonstrating its potential for PTX delivery.
