Summary: A retrospective analysis found that HCC patients with portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT) had significantly higher preoperative circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts compared to those without PVTT. Patients with CTC counts ≥ 2 had significantly lower overall survival and disease-free survival rates. Therefore, preoperative CTC counts have the potential to be a valuable clinical tool in predicting the prognosis of HCC patients with PVTT.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of surgical margin (SM) on the postoperative prognosis of patients with solitary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using propensity score matching (PSM). The results showed that SM size did not affect prognosis for patients with negative SMs, while factors such as INR, AST, capsule integrity, microvascular invasion, tumour embolus, and tumour size were independent factors influencing postoperative prognosis for solitary HCC patients.

Summary: Previous studies have shown conflicting results on the impact of tumor size on the prognosis of distant metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma. While patients with larger tumors had a higher mortality rate, propensity score matching analysis revealed no significant association between tumor size and prognosis in distant metastatic HCC.

Summary: The study evaluates the significance of anatomical resection (AR) on therapeutic outcomes of patients with small hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using propensity score-matched (PSM) analysis. Results show that AR may improve disease-free survival in HCC patients with tumors of <= 5 cm diameter, with significantly lower liver remnant recurrence in the AR group.

Summary: This study evaluated the prognostic value of tumor deposits (TDs) in gastric cancer and investigated the best ways to incorporate TDs into the TNM classification. The results showed that TDs were significantly related to unfavorable factors and were an independent prognostic factor for gastric cancer. Incorporating TDs as metastatic lymph nodes in the TNM classification improved the accuracy of predicting prognosis.

Summary: The study compared the outcomes of sorafenib (SOR) and lenvatinib (LEN) in the molecular-targeted agent (MTA) sequential treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (u-HCC) patients, finding that LEN exhibited significantly greater therapeutic efficacy compared to SOR. Both treatments showed no significant differences in transitioning to secondary MTA treatments, adverse events, and maintenance of the Child-Pugh (CP) score during the treatment. Additionally, secondary MTA treatment demonstrated a greater improvement in survival compared to non-MTA treatments.

Summary: In clinical practice, lenvatinib showed superior progression-free survival, disease control rates, and equivalent treatment-related adverse events compared to sorafenib for patients with unresectable HCC, while also reducing the risk of disease progression. However, lack of approved post-lenvatinib systemic therapies remains a significant issue in the real world.

Summary: Transition metal selenides have received great attention due to their high theoretical capacity, but the fluctuation in volume during charge/discharge process leads to significant reduction in electrochemical performance. In this study, carbon-regulated copper(I) selenide (Cu2Se@C) is designed to enhance the stability and ion diffusion in selenide electrodes, resulting in improved storage kinetics. The experimental results show that the capacitance process plays a crucial role in the Cu2Se@C material.

Summary: Fungal spoilage of postharvest grains is a major concern for food safety, human health, and economic value. Fumigation with natural gaseous fungicides, specifically biogenic volatiles, shows promise in controlling fungal contamination in grain storage. This review highlights the antifungal effects of biogenic volatiles from microbes and plants on spoilage fungi in postharvest grains and suggests areas for further research in fumigation with biogenic volatiles. The findings support the use of biogenic volatiles as a protective measure against grain spoilage by fungi in postharvest grain management.

Summary: This communication presents a beam-steerable 2 bit reflectarray antenna with an electromagnetic control mechanism. The proposed 2-bit reflectarray unit elements manipulate phase reflection by moving two pins with electromagnetism. A prototype antenna, with manually turned screws, is evaluated through measurements to verify its performance. The prototype demonstrates an impedance bandwidth of over 5 GHz, a boresight realized gain of 20 dBi at 25 GHz, and a gain bandwidth of over 2 GHz. Measurements indicate that the prototype antenna is capable of beam-steering within a 120-degree range with a gain drop of less than 3 dB.

Summary: In this study, a supramolecular fluorescent probe (TPAPy@tQ[14]) with an AIE effect was constructed using twisted cucurbit[14]uril (tQ[14]) and a triphenylamine derivative (TPAPy). The probe exhibited bright yellow fluorescence due to the inhibitory effect of tQ[14] on the rotation of TPAPy molecules. TPAPy@tQ[14] showed ultrasensitive detection of cyanide in an aqueous solution and was able to cross the glomerular filtration barrier into HK-2 cells, providing a new detection method for early clinical identification of acute kidney injury (AKI) by distinguishing excess Fe(CN)(6)(3-) in cells.

Summary: This paper proposes an uncertainty quantification method to guide the optimization design of wireless power transfer (WPT) for electric vehicles (EVs) in order to improve the transmission efficiency. By establishing a surrogate model and conducting global sensitivity analysis, the variables with greater impact on efficiency are identified and optimized using an improved optimization algorithm, resulting in an average efficiency increase from 73.43% to 94.64%. Compared to other methods, this paper's approach proves to optimize WPT more efficiently and significantly improve the transmission efficiency.

Summary: This paper investigates the impregnation of wood with methyl methacrylate (MMA) and in situ polymerization to obtain polymethyl methacrylate/delignified wood (PMMA/DW) under different lignin removal conditions. The results show that when the lignin removal reaches 29.9% to 51.7%, the dimensional stability of PMMA/DW is improved and the resin begins to enter the wood cell wall. Furthermore, the indentation modulus and hardness of the PMMA/DW cell wall significantly increase when the lignin removal reaches 29.9%, indicating that the nanopores of the cell wall are filled with PMMA.

Summary: This study investigates the exponential H-infinity stabilization of Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy neutral-type neural networks with reaction-diffusion. It presents a simple condition in the form of linear matrix inequalities by using Lyapunov functional, slack matrices, and the loop-invariant property of matrix trace. A weight learning rule is then derived to guarantee the exponential H-infinity stability of the neural network. Additionally, a new condition on the existence of the weight learning rule is obtained through the use of a more complex Lyapunov functional and the Jensen integral inequality.
