Summary: This study investigates the effect of probiotics plus dietary fiber on antipsychotic-induced weight gain in drug-naive, first-episode schizophrenia patients. The results indicate that probiotics plus dietary fiber can effectively attenuate antipsychotic-induced weight gain and improve insulin resistance index in these patients.

Summary: The deletion of Ip6k1 protects mice from age-induced metabolic dysfunction by preventing the increase in body weight and fat mass, improving insulin sensitivity, and enhancing carbohydrate oxidation efficiency. Targeting Ip6k1 may delay the development of age-related metabolic disorders.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between weight gain and insulin resistance in women with early stage breast cancer receiving adjuvant therapy. The results showed that breast cancer patients experience significant weight gain in the first year following diagnosis, and those who receive chemotherapy may experience short-term insulin resistance.

Summary: Women with obesity have higher rates of infertility, and weight loss may improve fertility. Liraglutide and diet modification are effective for weight reduction and improving insulin resistance. Liraglutide treatment can restore fertility, but pregnancy without diet intervention may lead to excessive weight gain.

Summary: The study found that gestational weight gain in the third trimester was positively correlated with serum leptin concentrations and HOMA-IR indices, but not with adiponectin concentrations. Multivariate analysis revealed that weight gain and leptin concentration were independently associated with HOMA-IR levels, and mediation analysis showed that the association between weight gain and HOMA-IR was mediated by serum leptin concentrations.

Summary: The study aimed to analyze the risk factors for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) heterogeneity and its correlation with obesity. Results showed that GDM patients exhibit different glycemic physiology types, with specific obesity-related risk factors for the GDM-resistance subtype mediated by pre-pregnancy overweight/obesity and increased gestational weight gain in the first trimester.

Summary: This study found that high BMI, hyperglycemia, and low calcium levels are independent risk factors for tibial tubercle avulsion fractures (TTAF) in children. Additionally, decreased estradiol, elevated progesterone, and insulin resistance were identified as potential risk factors for TTAF. A history of knee pain may suggest bilateral TTAF.

Summary: This study investigated the longitudinal changes in brain volume and cognitive function associated with diabetes at midlife, and found that type 2 diabetes is associated with greater white matter volume reduction and executive function decline. Long-term hyperglycemia was identified as a major independent factor associated with rapid cognitive decline in middle-aged adults with diabetes.

Summary: This systematic review evaluated the influence of diabetes mellitus (DM) on the response of the pulp tissue and in the pulp cells behaviour. The results indicated that DM may increase inflammation/degeneration and mineralization in the pulp tissue while reducing cell proliferation. Further analyses in human pulp are important to provide stronger evidence.

Summary: This study investigated inpatient endoscopy delay and found that factors such as older age, female sex, use of specific medications, and certain types of procedures are associated with delay. Delayed endoscopy prolonged hospital length-of-stay and was identified as an independent predictor of 30-day readmission.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and clinical characteristics of self-reported hyperthyroidism in patients with sarcoidosis. The results showed that hyperthyroidism is infrequent in patients with sarcoidosis but is potentially associated with different cardiac manifestations. Routine screening for hyperthyroidism in patients with sarcoidosis, especially those with cardiac involvement, is suggested.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the associations between individual NEFAs and disability and mobility limitation. The results showed that higher concentrations of total NEFA and various individual NEFA species were associated with an increased risk of disability and mobility limitation. Specific fatty acids, such as myristic and palmitic acids, were significantly associated with higher risk, while certain types of PUFA were not associated with disability or mobility limitation.

Summary: Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) is commonly seen in patients with asthma or cystic fibrosis, and the diagnosis usually requires a combination of clinical, radiographic, and immunologic criteria. We present a case of a 64-year-old male with a history of moderate persistent asthma who presented with worsening cough and was found to be IgE positive for Aspergillus fumigatus and had diffuse bilateral pulmonary calcifications on HRCT.
