Summary: Recently, gold nanoparticle-based nanozymes have attracted significant attention in the field of research. This study highlights the use of polymers as ligands for these AuNP-nanozymes, demonstrating their catalytic mechanism and activity improvement. The addition of ciprofloxacin in the oxidation system leads to the aggregation of PAM@AuNPs, promoting the production of reactive oxygen species and enhancing the catalytic activity. Additionally, a colorimetric assay for ciprofloxacin detection was developed, showing great potential for practical drug analysis using polymer protected AuNP-nanozymes.

Summary: This study investigated the double stimuli-responsive properties of PNIPA and PVIM block copolymers in aqueous solutions for the first time. The synthesis of two different block copolymers was performed using RAFT polymerization. The conformational behavior and self-assembly ability of the polymers were found to depend on the location of hydrophobic groups derived from the RAFT agent within the chain, as well as the length and charge of the PVIM block.

Summary: Here, we synthesized and characterized a Ag15Cu12 nanocluster (Ag15Cu12) and determined its atomic structure using various analytical techniques. The Ag15Cu12 nanocluster consists of an irregular Ag-12 core stabilized by a shell composed of Cu-3(SR)(6) moieties, [-SR-Ag-SR-] units, and Cu-2(CH3COO) staples. Additionally, we performed TD-DFT simulation to interpret the optical absorption features of Ag15Cu12. Overall, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of Ag-Cu alloy nanoclusters.

Summary: In this study, gold-copper bimetallic nanoclusters (AuCu NCs) were synthesized using a one-step co-reduction method. The emission wavelength of the NCs was tuned from 520 nm to 620 nm by changing the [Cu2+]/[Au3+] molar ratio. The quantum yield increased from 6% to 13% upon incorporation of Cu atoms. The composition of the Au NCs was determined to be Au-6(MPA)(5), while the bimetallic nanocluster was Au4Cu2(MPA)(5).

Summary: This study synthesized biochar based on sapropel and investigated the effects of chemical modification on its textural characteristics, acid-base properties, and adsorption properties. The results showed that the chemical modification increased the fraction of micropores, specific surface area, and changed the surface properties of biochar. The experiment also revealed that biochar pretreated with alkali exhibited the maximum adsorption capacity for copper ions. A conceptual model identifying the mechanisms of copper adsorption on sapropel-based biosorbent was proposed.

Summary: The corrosion inhibitory potency of two new pyrimidine-pyrazole derivatives, PPA and PPC, was evaluated for mild steel in 1 M HCl. The results showed enhanced inhibition activities with increased concentration, reaching maximal values of 91.15% and 92.39% for PPA and PPC, respectively. However, the mitigation potency decreased with increasing temperature. SEM and XPS analysis revealed that PPA and PPC adsorbed on the mild steel surface, forming a shielding layer that prevented the dissolution of the steel in the acidic solution.

Summary: This study aims to develop a nano-biofungicide comprising of volatile essential oil molecules to enhance its efficacy in the field of agriculture through easily scalable green synthesis technique. The nano biofungicide was prepared through one pot hot melt ultrasonication technique with easy water dispersibility and long term stability. The physico-chemical analysis revealed that, nano bio-fungicides were amorphous sphere-shaped nanoparticles with low melting point. The encapsulation efficiency of major components of essential oil was determined, and it was found that they followed Higuchi model of release kinetics. The essential oil loaded nanostructured lipid carrier showed significantly higher mycelial growth inhibition compared to pure essential oil, indicating enhanced bio-efficacy.
