Summary: The study focuses on the influence of calcination temperature on the features and photocatalytic performance of sol-gel synthesized CaCu3Ti4O12 nanoparticles. Characterization of the nanoparticles was done using various methods to examine their structure, composition, morphology, and optical properties. Photodegradation of a cationic dye was used to evaluate the photocatalytic performance. Results showed that calcination improved the crystallinity and reduced the optical bandgap energy of the nanoparticles, leading to enhanced photocatalytic activity. The sample calcined at 900 degrees C demonstrated the highest photodegradation efficiency and excellent recyclability.

Summary: The study investigates the effects of Cr and N doping on the properties of TiO2 anatase nanoparticles, including adsorption capacity, photocatalytic performance, and antibacterial response. Doping with Cr and Cr/N enhances adsorption capacity and photocatalytic performance, with Cr-TiO2 nanoparticles exhibiting antibacterial activity under visible light. The differences in electrostatic charge and nanoparticle dispersion are suggested as the main reasons for the varied antibacterial response among the doped nanoparticles.

Summary: In this study, core/shell ZnO/TiO2 nanocomposite samples were prepared using the sol-gel method at different time spans. The sample prepared in the 15-minute time span (ZnTi15) exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity and charge carrier density, making it the optimal sample. The formation of a heterojunction at the ZnO/TiO2 interface could be attributed to the increased photocurrent density observed for the ZnTi15 sample.

Summary: TiO2 nanomaterials were synthesized through a sol-gel method using titanium butoxide as a precursor, Pluronic F127 as a template, toluene as a swelling agent, and acidic water or ethanol as reaction solvents. The synthesis medium influenced the phase composition of the solids, with ethanol promoting dispersed anatase particles and water leading to a rutile phase. The photocatalytic activity of the samples was tested by the photodegradation of Rhodamine B.

Summary: Strontium titanate (STO) photocatalysts were prepared using a modified Pechini sol-gel method, with a unique rapid calcination technique. The samples were characterized and evaluated for their photocatalytic activity against various pollutants under UV light irradiation. The STO catalysts showed higher activity than the commercial reference, and their stability was demonstrated by retaining their crystalline composition after exposure to chemicals. Additionally, the unique calcination technique was found to be 35% more cost-effective compared to a conventional method.

Summary: The environmental impact of industrial technologies and related remediation methods is a significant research area. In the development of materials for wastewater treatment or air purification, the use of hazardous reactants often diminishes the overall positive contribution to the environment. This study presents the synthesis of stable titanium dioxide (TiO2) sols using an environmentally friendly method. The sol was deposited on glass and evaluated for wastewater purification ability by photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes. The results showed high efficiency and reusability, with degradation rates exceeding 85% for Rhodamine B and 100% for Methylene Blue.

Summary: This study synthesized biochar based on sapropel and investigated the effects of chemical modification on its textural characteristics, acid-base properties, and adsorption properties. The results showed that the chemical modification increased the fraction of micropores, specific surface area, and changed the surface properties of biochar. The experiment also revealed that biochar pretreated with alkali exhibited the maximum adsorption capacity for copper ions. A conceptual model identifying the mechanisms of copper adsorption on sapropel-based biosorbent was proposed.

Summary: The corrosion inhibitory potency of two new pyrimidine-pyrazole derivatives, PPA and PPC, was evaluated for mild steel in 1 M HCl. The results showed enhanced inhibition activities with increased concentration, reaching maximal values of 91.15% and 92.39% for PPA and PPC, respectively. However, the mitigation potency decreased with increasing temperature. SEM and XPS analysis revealed that PPA and PPC adsorbed on the mild steel surface, forming a shielding layer that prevented the dissolution of the steel in the acidic solution.

Summary: This study aims to develop a nano-biofungicide comprising of volatile essential oil molecules to enhance its efficacy in the field of agriculture through easily scalable green synthesis technique. The nano biofungicide was prepared through one pot hot melt ultrasonication technique with easy water dispersibility and long term stability. The physico-chemical analysis revealed that, nano bio-fungicides were amorphous sphere-shaped nanoparticles with low melting point. The encapsulation efficiency of major components of essential oil was determined, and it was found that they followed Higuchi model of release kinetics. The essential oil loaded nanostructured lipid carrier showed significantly higher mycelial growth inhibition compared to pure essential oil, indicating enhanced bio-efficacy.
