Summary: This is a technical description of a full digital workflow to reconstruct and rehabilitate the mandible after surgical resection. The surgical procedure followed a CAD-CAM guided workflow, using 3D reconstruction of the mandible and fibula. After 2 years, when the flap ossification was confirmed by a CT scan, a two-step implant rehabilitation surgery was performed, resulting in successful outcomes.

Summary: Alveolar ridge resorption is a natural consequence of teeth extraction, leading to potential aesthetic and functional issues. Alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) techniques, including the use of biomaterial, have been developed to minimize the biological consequences of resorption. In recent years, the use of autogenous teeth as bone graft material in post-extraction sockets has shown promising outcomes, but further research is needed to explore different preparation protocols.

Summary: There is a lack of consensus on the indications and clinical performance of removable partial denture (RPD) frameworks designed and manufactured with computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) systems. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the published literature on different CAD-CAM methods for RPD manufacturing and their clinical performance. The findings suggest that CAD-CAM frameworks have similar fit and esthetic improvement compared to conventional techniques.

Summary: This retrospective study aimed to evaluate bone healing after autogenous demineralized dentin matrix (DDM) grafts in the distal root of the mandibular second molar after the extraction of the third. The study included data from 20 patients who had undergone molar extractions and had DDM grafts implanted. The results showed that DDM can improve bone defect at the distal aspect of the mandibular second molar after third molar extraction.

Summary: This systematic review compared the clinical outcomes of complete denture fabrication using CAD-CAM technology with conventional techniques. The studies showed that digitally manufactured complete dentures had better retention, adaptation to tissue surfaces, and overall cost-effectiveness compared to conventional dentures. Patients also reported better experience and satisfaction with digital dentures.

Summary: This study histologically evaluates the osteintegration of a CAD/CAM titanium scaffold used for cranioplasty and finds that bone formation primarily occurs at the edges of the implant, with no mineralization on the inner scaffold surface facing the brain. The study suggests that current alloplastic materials for cranioplasty may not provide adequate stimuli for bone formation and calls for further research on alternative approaches to improve osteintegration.

Summary: This study aimed to quantitatively compare the use of a tissue expander in conjunction with autogenous bone graft with bone graft alone for the repair of the mandible's anterior region. The results showed that the group using both bone graft and tissue expander had larger grafted bone volume and better soft tissue profile. Therefore, the use of a tissue expander in maxillofacial reconstruction is a favored approach.

Summary: The implementation of CAD-CAM systems in dentistry has had a significant impact on the development of dental implantology and implant-supported prosthetics. This paper presents a comparative study between custom CAD-CAM implant abutments and dental implant stock abutments, revealing significant differences in dimensions and angles. The use of custom abutments results in improved aesthetics, retention, and reduced risk of screw loosening or fracturing.

Summary: The study aimed to compare CAD-CAM and conventional removable complete dentures in terms of treatment duration, financial costs, and adjustments. The results showed no significant differences between CAD-CAM and conventional dentures in treatment duration and adjustment frequency, but CAD-CAM dentures had significantly lower laboratory costs and overall costs.

Summary: The study investigates the use of autogenous particulate and anorganic bovine bone mineral (ABBM) in guided bone regeneration (GBR) for maxillary alveolar ridge resorption. The results showed that using autologous fibrin glue (AFG) to make a sticky bone covered by concentrated growth factor (CGF) membrane did not provide predictable bone gain compared to using native collagen membrane. However, the sticky bone group had higher secondary stability and the GBR group had higher primary stability.

Summary: The aim of this study was to compare the clinical stability and efficacy of patient-specific 3D titanium plates with conventional mini plates in the treatment of mandibular fractures. The patient-specific plates demonstrated higher patient satisfaction and lower pain values, as well as greater occlusal bite forces and shorter operating times compared to the conventional mini plates. These findings suggest that patient-specific plates are a preferred option for the treatment of mandibular fractures.

Summary: This study evaluated the outcome of early surgical intervention for displaced orbital roof fractures. Six male patients with a median age of 23.5 years underwent transcranial surgery within hours of admission. No major complications, such as meningitis or blindness, were observed during a median follow-up period of 10 months. Traumatic optic neuropathy occurred in two patients but improved with treatment. Overall, early surgical management of displaced orbital roof fractures leads to favorable functional and cosmetic results with minimal complications.
