Summary: A conceptually novel catalytic domino approach is presented for the synthesis of highly functional 1,4-dihydro-2H-1,3-benzoxazine-2-one derivatives. The chemoselectivity is achieved through a proper design of the precursor and the use of Thorpe-Ingold effects. The synthetic diversity of these CO2-based heterocycles is demonstrated, and an unusual ring-expansion sequence is observed from an alpha-alkylidene, five-membered cyclic carbonate to a six-membered cyclic carbamate by N-induced isomerization.

Summary: A novel series of TGX-221 analogues were synthesized by replacing the 4H-pyrido[1,2-a] pyrimidin-4-one scaffold with a 4H-benzo[e][1,3]oxazin-4-one scaffold. The analogues with an -CH(CH3) NH- linker demonstrated comparable activity to TGX-221 analogues, supported by comparative structure-activity relationship analysis. The analogues containing an -CH(CH3)O- linker exhibited lower activity but still displayed useful structure-activity relationship, including a preferred o-methyl substitution.

Summary: This review focuses on the sluggish reaction kinetics at the oxygen cathode in metal-air batteries, which is a major obstacle to their commercialization. The use of noble-metal electrocatalysts has been a potential solution, but their high cost and scarcity hinder their widespread application. The review discusses the mechanisms of oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER), proposes principles for bifunctional electrocatalysts, and presents state-of-the-art catalysts based on carbon and transition-metal materials. Additionally, it explores self-supporting 3D noble-metal-free bifunctional ORR/OER catalysts and provides perspectives on the future development of bifunctional electrocatalysts.

Summary: This study investigated the expression patterns and prognostic value of E2F transcription factors in patients with prostate cancer. The results showed that E2F1-3, E2F5, and E2F6 were highly expressed in prostate cancer tissues and were associated with higher Gleason score, advanced tumor stage, and metastasis. High transcription levels of E2F1-3, E2F5, E2F6, and E2F8 were also associated with a higher risk of biochemical recurrence. A prognostic model combining E2F1, E2F6, Gleason score, and clinical stage was developed to predict biochemically recurrence-free survival.

Summary: The study indicates that AMIGO2 plays a critical role in numerous cancers, especially in prostate cancer (PCa). Lower expression of AMIGO2 inhibits PCa cell proliferation and colony formation. AMIGO2 serves as a reliable prognostic marker that can supplement the current prognosis evaluation system. Summary: We report a novel visible-light photocatalytic carboxylation of C-N bonds in cyclic amines with CO2 via consecutive photo-induced electron transfer (ConPET). It is the first photocatalytic reductive ring-opening reaction of azetidines, pyrrolidines, and piperidines. This strategy enables the transformation of easily available cyclic amines into valuable amino acids in moderate-to-excellent yields. The method features mild and transition-metal-free conditions, high selectivity, good functional-group tolerance, facile scalability, and product derivations. Mechanistic studies suggest that ConPET plays a key role in generating highly reactive photocatalysts for the reductive activation of cyclic amines.
