Summary: Fluopyram is a widely used succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor fungicide and nematicide in agricultural pest control, which has toxic effects on non-target organisms. This study evaluated the toxic effect of fluopyram using the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans, showing that sublethal exposure to fluopyram caused damage to various physiological, biochemical, and molecular indicators in the nematodes, including oxidative stress, intestinal damage, and cell apoptosis. Pearson correlation analyses revealed significant correlations between various parameters, indicating that fluopyram induced multiple toxic effects in C. elegans, with oxidative stress, intestinal damage, and cell apoptosis playing major roles in its toxicity.

Summary: Fosthiazate, a potent nematicide, has been used extensively for controlling root-knot nematodes and other herbivorous nematodes. However, its toxicity to non-target nematodes is still unclear. In this study, we investigated the toxicity and mechanisms of fosthiazate in Caenorhabditis elegans, a non-target nematode species. Our results showed that fosthiazate exposure above 0.01 mg/L caused growth inhibition, locomotion impairment, and reproductive damage in the nematodes. Reactive oxygen species production and lipofuscin accumulation were increased in nematodes exposed to 1 mg/L fosthiazate. The activity of acetylcholinesterase was significantly inhibited by 0.1 mg/L fosthiazate treatment. Furthermore, exposure to 10 mg/L fosthiazate altered the expression of genes involved in oxidative stress, reproduction, and nerve function. The cyp-35a family gene was found to be responsible for the metabolism of fosthiazate in C. elegans, with the cyp-35a5 subtype being the most sensitive. These findings suggest that oxidative stress, reproductive and neurological disorders play crucial roles in the toxicity of fosthiazate in C. elegans and may have implications for soil nematodes.

Summary: This study found that maternal exposure to PS-MPs can result in the transgenerational neurotoxicity in C. elegans, with oxidative stress playing a key role in this process. Furthermore, the upregulation of oxidative stress-related genes across generations may be involved in regulating neurotoxicity in C. elegans.

Summary: This study assessed the potential risk and molecular mechanisms of fluopimomide in C. elegans. The results showed that sublethal exposure to fluopimomide adversely affected the nematodes' growth, behavior, reproduction, and lifespan, accompanied by increased oxidative stress. Fluopimomide also inhibited the nematodes' antioxidant systems and down-regulated the expression of oxidative stress-related genes. This study provides new insights into the toxic effects of fluopimomide, even at low concentrations.

Summary: In this study, the toxicity of the herbicide atrazine and its main metabolites, deethylatrazine (DEA) and deisopropylatrazine (DIA), was compared using the in vivo model Caenorhabditis elegans. The results showed that DEA and DIA had lower toxicity on locomotion and reproduction compared to atrazine. Additionally, DEA and DIA induced less transgenerational toxicity on locomotion than atrazine and caused less oxidative stress and alteration in gene expression.

Summary: This study evaluated the neurotoxicity and chronic toxicology of Saxitoxin (STX) on Caenorhabditis elegans. It found that STX does not cause lethal effects on the worms but does induce substantial oxidative stress, with a dose-responsive relationship. The lifespan, productivity, and body size of the worms were all influenced by STX exposure.

Summary: In this study, the toxic effects of fluopimomide on Caenorhabditis elegans and the possible mechanisms were evaluated. Results indicated that fluopimomide had negative effects on the growth, pharyngeal pumping, and antioxidant systems of C. elegans. Furthermore, it was found that oxidative stress and mitochondrial damage may be involved in the toxicity of fluopimomide.
