Summary: This study assessed the effectiveness of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in treating musculoskeletal symptoms in breast cancer patients treated with aromatase inhibitors (AIs). The results indicated that TCM could effectively relieve pain, particularly worst pain and pain interference, and improve quality of life. Further research on molecular pathways and safety profiles is still needed.

Summary: Aromatase inhibitors (AI) reduce recurrence and death in patients with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. This study aimed to replicate previously reported associations for candidate germline genetic polymorphisms with AI-induced musculoskeletal symptoms (AIMSS) and found that carriers of OPG rs2073618 may be at increased risk of AIMSS.

Summary: Aromatase inhibitors (AIs) are essential in the management of hormone receptor-positive (HR+) breast cancer, but their use is limited by the musculoskeletal adverse effects known as aromatase inhibitor-associated musculoskeletal syndrome (AIMSS), which includes bone loss and arthralgias. The pathophysiology of AIMSS is not fully understood, but is proposed to be related to estrogen deprivation in the musculoskeletal and nervous systems.

Summary: This review summarizes the mechanisms and clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine and natural medicine in the treatment of triple-negative breast cancer. Evidence shows that their anti-tumor activity targets multiple pathways, providing a basis for new drug development and the need for further experimental research to enhance their clinical application.

Summary: This cross-sectional study in China focused on joint pain in breast cancer survivors receiving AI treatment. The study found that Chinese breast cancer survivors commonly experience joint pain, particularly in the knees. Factors such as poorer physical well-being/functioning, previous use of AI treatment, presence of osteoarthritis, and receiving physiotherapy were identified as correlates of greater severity of pain and pain interference.

Summary: This study found that the presence of nociplastic pain prior to surgery was associated with premature discontinuation of endocrine therapy. Fibromyalgia Score screening may be a useful tool for evaluating the risk of therapy discontinuation. Treatments targeting nociplastic pain may be more effective for treating therapy-emergent pain.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of obesity on clinicopathological characteristics of breast cancer and to explore its effects on prognosis and endocrine therapy in Chinese patients. The results showed that obesity was associated with a higher risk of comorbidities and PR-positive tumors, but not with overall disease recurrence or survival in the whole population. However, obesity was found to be associated with worse relapse-free survival and overall survival in the luminal A subtype, but not in the luminal B subtype. Obesity did not impact the effectiveness of endocrine therapy in both Tamoxifen and aromatase inhibitor groups.

Summary: Breast cancer is a common malignant tumor with EMT being a crucial process that allows tumor cells to acquire invasive and metastatic properties. Therapies targeting EMT have become increasingly important in cancer treatment, and studies have shown that Traditional Chinese Medicine compounds can inhibit breast cancer cell growth and development by inhibiting EMT.

Summary: Pancreatic cancer, known as the king of cancers, is a common malignancy of the digestive system with a high degree of malignancy and poor prognosis. Although Western medicine mainly uses surgical resection, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, the curative effect is not satisfactory. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has many advantages in the treatment of pancreatic cancer and is becoming an important aspect of comprehensive clinical treatment.

Summary: With continuous breakthroughs in molecular biology and biochemistry, significant progress has been made in the treatment of lung cancer, particularly with standard treatments improving patient prognosis and immunotherapy providing positive outcomes. In contrast, traditional Chinese medicine has limited research in the field of lung cancer, but has shown progress in non-small cell lung cancer.

Summary: Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been used for centuries as an important part of complementary and alternative medicine, particularly in the treatment of various diseases. However, the lack of understanding of active ingredients and mechanisms of TCM in combating diseases like colorectal cancer has hindered the development of clinical products and precision medicine in this field.

Summary: Traditional Chinese medicine has shown superior therapeutic effects for musculoskeletal diseases, and recent advances in using herbal extracts of TCM in musculoskeletal tissue engineering have been promising. The bioactive herbal extracts of TCM have the potential to regulate multiple signaling pathways in osteogenesis, angiogenesis, anti-inflammation, and chondrogenesis, making TCM an attractive candidate for extensive application in MTE. The combination of traditional Chinese medicine with advanced additive manufacturing technology appears to offer great potential.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for postviral olfactory dysfunction (PVOD). Six randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 467 patients were selected. TCM plus olfactory training and/or drug therapy (OTDT) decreased QOD-P and appeared to increase the treatment success rate compared to no treatment. TCM plus drug therapy appeared to increase the effective rate compared to drug therapy alone. However, further high-quality RCTs are still needed due to the lack of sufficient evidence.

Summary: The histopathological growth pattern (HGP) reflects the interaction between cancer cells and surrounding tissues and has a predictive value in liver metastases. This study focuses on investigating HGP and its evolution in primary liver cancer using a rabbit model. The study found that tumor growth follows an exponential pattern and metastasis occurs after reaching a specific stage of development. The components of HGPs change with tumor growth, with the decrease and increase of desmoplastic HGP (dHGP) and replacement HGP (rHGP) respectively. The expression of HIF1A and VEGF is correlated with collagen deposition and dHGP, while CD31 is not. The findings suggest that HGP evolution is a two-way switch and HIF1A-VEGF may play a key role in the formation of dHGP.
