Summary: Methanogens are believed to have originated in the late Hadean or early Archean eons, and have evolved various metabolic pathways that play a crucial role in climate stability. Horizontal gene transfer likely led to the spread of alkane metabolism genes among different archaeal clades.

Summary: Pyroptosis is a gene-regulated cell death process dependent on Caspase, which leads to the production of proinflammatory mediators. Mitochondria also play a crucial role in cell death, with mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization being a key mechanism. Investigating the roles of mitochondria in pyroptosis can provide new strategies for regulating cell death with potential clinical benefits.

Summary: The study revealed that CCDC144NL-AS1 plays an oncogenic role in osteosarcoma by binding with miR-490-3p and increasing HMGA2 expression. Suppression of CCDC144NL-AS1 expression can inhibit proliferation, migration, and invasion of osteosarcoma cells, while promoting apoptosis.

Summary: This study revealed that the expression levels of serum ABHD11-AS1 in PTC patients were significantly higher than in healthy controls, and high levels were closely associated with poor prognosis. Cell experiments demonstrated that knocking down ABHD11-AS1 inhibited PTC cell proliferation and induced apoptosis, while overexpression had positive effects on survival indices.

Summary: This study identifies ADAD2 as a late meiotic male germ cell-specific RNA-binding protein that plays a crucial role in maintaining the XY-body formation and post-meiotic germ cell differentiation. Loss of ADAD2 leads to defective translation of Mdc1, resulting in the failure of maintaining the XY-body and ultimately causing abnormal heterochromatin and cell death in post-meiotic germ cells.

Summary: Climate change, global warming, and population growth have prompted researchers to use eco-friendly methods for the N-2 reduction reaction. A new visible-light-driven photocatalyst consisting of FeOCl particles adhered to NS-CN showed remarkable photoactivity in NH4+ production reaction. Various factors such as electron quenchers, pH, and solvent were studied to understand the mechanism behind the improved N-2 fixation efficiency.

Summary: This study reports an open-source toolkit called OPUS-Rota4 for protein side-chain modeling, which predicts side-chain dihedral angles, measures distance and orientation between residue pairs, and uses constraints to guide side-chain modeling. The results show that OPUS-Rota4 produces side chains that are closer to their native counterparts compared to AlphaFold2 predictions.
