Summary: This systematic review examines the use and measurement properties of the D-12 and MDP in various populations, settings, and languages. The results show that D-12 and MDP are reliable, valid, and responsive tools, and can be considered standard instruments for measuring dimensions of breathlessness in international trials.

Summary: This study aimed to validate the Dyspnoea-12 (D12) and Multidimensional dyspnea profile (MDP) in 73-year-old men. The results showed that these instruments had good reliability and validity, with excellent internal consistency and concurrent and discriminant validity with other scales. This supports their use in population studies of older men.

Summary: In this study, we aim to develop a theory-based, multidimensional instrument to capture the perception of hybrid professionals regarding the relationship between their professional and managerial identities and their practices in dealing with the demands of both roles. We validate the instrument on a sample of Italian school principals and identify six profiles of hybrid professionals. We provide three avenues for applying this instrument.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of sarcopenia on ventilatory behavior and dyspnea in patients with COPD. The results showed that sarcopenia was associated with shallow breathing and various sensory and affective components of exertional dyspnea. Improved breathing patterns could potentially alleviate dyspnea in older COPD patients with sarcopenia.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical features and laboratory parameters of COVID-19 patients in Bangladesh, and found that age, dyspnea, high CRP, and lymphopenia were independent predictors for hypoxemia in hospitalized patients. Early identification and aggressive treatment of high-risk patients can reduce their morbidity and mortality.

Summary: FLASH irradiation has been proven to reduce normal tissue toxicity significantly while maintaining tumor control probability compared to conventional irradiation. A novel self-shielded x-ray irradiation cabinet system has been proposed to enhance preclinical research capabilities, utilizing two high capacity 150 kVp fluoroscopy x-ray sources in a parallel-opposed arrangement.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the epidemiological, virological, and clinical features of sporadic HEV infection in eastern China. The results showed a stable anti-HEV IgG positivity rate and a winter spike in anti-HEV IgM prevalence. Phylogenetic analysis revealed predominant subtype 4d circulating across species and the country. Patients with confirmed HEV infection were typically older males presenting with jaundice and anorexia, with elevated liver enzymes and bilirubin levels. Notably, higher baseline bilirubin levels were correlated with illness severity and pre-existing HBV carriage could worsen illness outcomes. Surveillance should be enhanced, especially during the winter to spring transition period.

Summary: In order to ensure patient safety and provide high-quality services in a short period of time, medical laboratories worldwide have been striving to minimize preanalytical errors in the total testing process. Efforts to improve preanalytical quality through standardization and harmonization have been made at the local or national level. In 2011, the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM) established the working group Preanalytical Phase (WG-PRE) to address this issue. The WG-PRE has made significant contributions, including the development of a European consensus guideline on venous blood collection. The definition of the preanalytical phase has also been expanded to include laboratory test selection, offering opportunities for improvement through the implementation of strategies and the use of artificial intelligence models.
