The synthesis and characterization of porous structured ZnFe2O4 particles with enhanced photocatalytic activity

Porous structured ZnFe2O4 particles were synthesized by chemically etching solid ZnFe2O4 particles. The porosity of the particles could be controlled by the chemical etching time. The specific surface area of particles was determined by a BET method. The photocatalytic performance of both solid and porous ZnFe2O4 particles were investigated in Rhodamine B (RhB) photocatalytic degradation reaction. The results showed that ZnFe2O4 particles with higher porosity and specific surface area showed a higher photocatalytic efficiency. This research reported an effective and costly way to improve the photocatalytic efficiency of ZnFe2O4 particles.
