Summary: This paper models a selective forwarding attack of smart malicious nodes using a reinforcement learning algorithm and designs a double-threshold density peaks clustering algorithm for effective detection of the attack. Abnormal nodes and suspicious nodes are identified and isolated through continuous abnormalities and neighbor voting. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has a low false detection rate and improves the network throughput under a harsh environment.

Summary: The widespread use of wireless sensor networks has led to the need for solutions to overcome their shortcomings, particularly the issue of energy shortage. Among various proposed schemes, cluster-based routing protocols have shown promising results but still require improvements in energy consumption reduction and network lifetime prolongation. This paper introduces a novel cluster-based hierarchical routing protocol called Pizzza, which forms minimum spanning trees within each sector-shaped cluster and allows only eligible nodes to act as cluster heads. The application of Pizzza has resulted in increased network lifetime and enhanced residual energy compared to other protocols.
