Summary: This study aimed to explore the reliability of different strength variables collected in isokinetic and isometric conditions during two trunk rotator exercises and determine the relationship between isometric and dynamic strength variables. The results showed that the horizontal cable woodchop exercise is more reliable than the low cable woodchop exercise, and that average strength should be used as an evaluation measure. The most reliable evaluation was the HCW at 0.40 m/s concentric and eccentric contraction, and the dynamic condition that correlated most with the isometric was LWC at 0.50 m/s.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the development of inspiratory and leg muscle fatigue between males and females following high-intensity cycling. The results showed that females incur similar peripheral fatigue in the quadriceps and inspiratory muscles compared with men, despite smaller reduction in voluntary force. Therefore, different training strategies are not recommended for women.

Summary: The study investigated the association between the characteristics of swallowing-related muscles and trunk muscle mass in community-dwelling older adults. Trunk muscle mass was found to be positively related to swallowing-related muscle mass, but not muscle quality. These findings provide insights into the association of dysphagia with trunk muscle mass and appendicular skeletal muscle mass.

Summary: This study investigated the contribution of major torso tissues, including the thoracolumbar fascia, abdominal wall, and spinal muscles, to static spine stability using numerical in-silico analysis. The results showed that the different tissues exhibited different roles in spine stability, with the thoracolumbar fascia dissipating excessive loads, the muscles acting antagonistically to external perturbations, and the intra-abdominal pressure limiting movement. Different combinations of tissue activations were also explored, showing the importance of optimized engagement and coordination between different tissues to achieve a specific task while minimizing individual work.

Summary: This study examines the influence of sex and dominant/non-dominant side on trunk rotator muscles. The reliability of two trunk rotator exercises was assessed and correlations between sides were analyzed. The results show that sex significantly affects the reliability of one exercise, but there is no significant difference between dominant/non-dominant sides. Additionally, there are no significant differences between the dominant/non-dominant sides in relation to sex, and the strength of the two exercises only differs in specific conditions.

Recent studies have shown significant muscular responses in abdominal muscles during RLT application, as demonstrated by surface electromyography analysis.
