Summary: This study developed a deep learning algorithm to recognize anatomical structures in video frames from robot-assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy (RAMIE) procedures. It shows potential for clinical application and further prospective clinical studies are needed to assess its effectiveness.

Summary: This study compared the accuracy of acetabular component placement, leg length discrepancy, femoral offset, and global offset difference between patients who underwent hip replacement surgery with either fluoroscopic or robotic guidance. The results showed that there was a small improvement in acetabular inclination error with robotic-guided surgery, but no significant differences in other measures between the two groups. The findings question the use of robotic guidance in direct anterior approach THA compared to fluoroscopic guidance.

Summary: This study compared the accuracy and safety of two methods - scan-and-plan registration and CT-to-fluoroscopy registration - for robot-assisted lumbar pedicle screw placement. The results showed that both methods were safe, accurate, and had similar fluoroscopy time exposure overall.

Summary: This study compared robot-assisted technology and conventional freehand technique in terms of pedicle screw positioning accuracy, surgical time, revision surgeries, and intraoperative radiation time and dosage through a systematic review and meta-analysis. The results indicated that robot-assisted technology had advantages in screw accuracy and radiation exposure reduction, while the freehand technique outperformed in overall surgical duration and revision surgery rates.

Summary: The aim of this study was to assess the accuracy of fully guided flapless implant positioning for complete-arch rehabilitations in edentulous patients and investigate the correlation between linear and angular deviations. The results showed that computer-assisted flapless implant placement using mucosa-supported templates is a reliable and predictable treatment choice for complete arch restorations.

Summary: The study aimed to analyze technical problems, indications for CAS, oncological results, and non-oncological complications of primary bone tumor patients treated with intraoperative navigation. The main indication for CAS was malignant bone tumor resection, with pure en-block resections indicated for pelvic and sacrum tumors, and en-block resection with allograft reconstruction assisted with navigation indicated for extremities tumors.

Summary: The robot-assisted group showed significantly better accuracy in pedicle screw placement, lower facet joint invasion rate, and revision rate compared to the conventional fluoroscopic group. However, there was no significant difference in complications and radiation exposure between the two groups.

Summary: An automatic markerless knee tracking and registration algorithm is proposed in this research to avoid the need for marker insertion in conventional computer-assisted knee surgeries. A supervised deep neural network is introduced to automatically restore bone surface modifications caused by intra-operative interventions, improving the registration quality. Evaluation on synthetic and real-time capture data demonstrates the effectiveness of surface reconstruction in enhancing tracking accuracy.

Summary: The hinotori(TM) surgical robotic system by Medicaroid showed good usability and accessibility in a preclinical feasibility study. Both experienced robotic surgeons and participants without experience were able to use the system effectively. The time required for task completion and subjective workload decreased with repeated task performance.

Summary: Automation has potential to assist surgeons in robotic interventions by shifting their mental work load from visuomotor control to high level decision making. Reinforcement learning shows promise in learning complex visuomotor policies, especially in simulation environments. This letter introduces a successful application of visual sim-to-real transfer for robotic manipulation of deformable objects, bridging the sim-to-real gap in surgical robotics.

Summary: This report describes an alternative method of stabilizing surgical templates through the use of remaining teeth and opposing occlusal surfaces, followed by bone block fixation screws and stainless-steel beads as secondary anchoring mechanisms. The advantages, limitations, and comparisons with other anchoring mechanisms are also discussed.

Summary: The use of a gelatin sponge impregnated with dexamethasone combined with MIS-TLIF and no drainage tube after the operation appears to be safe and effective in reducing recurrent back and leg pain in patients with lumbar degenerative disease. The approach resulted in low complication rates and high levels of postoperative satisfaction.
