Summary: In this study, parameter estimation in neutral delay differential equations (NDDEs) is treated as an optimization problem, and Genetic Algorithm with Multi-Parent Crossover (GA-MPC) is applied to obtain parameter estimates. The results show that GA-MPC is capable of consistently identifying model parameters that provide a good fit of the model to the data.

Summary: A dynamic model is proposed for the photopolymerization of 1,6-hexanediol diacrylate (HDDA) using a bifunctional initiator bis-acylphosphine oxide (BAPO). The model takes into account branching, backbiting, cyclization reactions, and diffusion-dependent reaction rates. Parameter estimation and ranking analysis reveal that branching, backbiting, and cyclization reactions have significant influences on conversion. Reactions involving two large molecules and propagation reactions are diffusion-dependent. Incorporating diffusion-dependent initiator efficiency enhances the predictive capability of the model.

Summary: The parameters of a lithium-ion battery are crucial for an effective battery management system. Parameter estimation using the pseudo-two-dimensional (P2D) model is more cost-effective than direct measurement methods, but the simulation of the P2D model is time-consuming. To overcome this, a two-phase surrogate model-assisted parameter estimation algorithm (TPSMA-PEAL) is proposed, combining the advantages of reduced-order and data-driven models. TPSMA-PEAL addresses challenges such as overfitting and low observability using differential evolution and parameter sensitivity analysis. Simulations and experiments demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of TPSMA-PEAL.

Summary: So far, fault detection for distributed parameter systems (DPSs) has been mostly model-based and heavily reliant on prior known model information, limiting their usability in industrial applications. In this article, a brand-new framework is proposed for online systems modeling and fault detection of unknown high-dimensional DPSs. The framework includes an interaction between the two parts, where the systems modeling error is transformed into residual signals for fault detection and the online modeling switches to offline mode based on fault-detection results. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through experiments on sensor fault diagnosis for the thermal process of a 2-D battery cell.

Summary: The increasing demand for electricity has led to investment in generators connected to consumer facilities, known as distributed generation (DG). While DG has advantages, it can pose risks like islanded operation. To prevent this, proper protection and island detection methods like vector jump relays are essential. Studies using software like MATLAB/SIMULINK can help in this area, but there is a lack of documentation on implementing island detection using the vector jump method in these programs. This research serves to provide detailed guidance on implementing island detection using synchronous machines for students starting in distributed generation studies.
