Summary: A series of Ce, Bi, and N co-doped TiO2 photocatalysts were prepared to remove Chlorazol yellow (CY) dye molecules from water. The 5 wt% (Ce-Bi-N) co-doped TiO2 composite catalyst showed the best catalytic activity under sunlight irradiation. The catalyst achieved 97% degradation of CY molecules within 30 minutes and followed second-order kinetics. The developed catalyst can destruct CY molecules with a maximum rate of 23.1 mu g CY g(-1) min(-1) and the photodegradation kinetics depends on the concentration of CY.

Summary: Cu and Y co-doped TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared using an acid-catalytic sol-gel process, resulting in a single anatase phase with reduced crystallite size. SEM observations showed uniform nanospheres being synthesized under the proposed conditions. XPS results demonstrated the presence of Cu+ and Y3+ ions. The photoactivity of the co-doped TiO2 was improved due to effective separation of electron-hole pairs, increased formation of active radicals, and increased surface area.

Summary: Pure rutile phase of TiO2 nanocrystals were synthesized by tuning the chemical process, resulting in stabilized growth with high surface area and mesoporosity upon an increase in calcination temperatures. Photoluminescence and XPS studies revealed interesting findings such as intra-band levels and presence of Ti3+ ions on the highly porous R-TiO2.

Summary: TiO2 nanomaterials were synthesized through a sol-gel method using titanium butoxide as a precursor, Pluronic F127 as a template, toluene as a swelling agent, and acidic water or ethanol as reaction solvents. The synthesis medium influenced the phase composition of the solids, with ethanol promoting dispersed anatase particles and water leading to a rutile phase. The photocatalytic activity of the samples was tested by the photodegradation of Rhodamine B.

Summary: In this paper, a uniform beta-C3N4 layer is successfully prepared and coated on a TiO2 nanotube substrate via calcination treatment using ethylenediamine as the carbon nitride precursor. The TiO2/C3N4 composite material exhibits promising sunlight-driven overall water splitting ability, with N vacancy defects in beta-C3N4 serving as the active site for oxygen generation from water.

Summary: In this study, a TiO2-alumina photocatalyst was manufactured and tested for the photolysis and conversion of acetaldehyde. The results showed that decreasing the flow rate, increasing the moisture level, and decreasing the ultraviolet wavelength increased the conversion rate of acetaldehyde. Among the heat-treatment temperatures used, the catalyst treated at 650 degrees C had the highest conversion rate. This newly manufactured TiO2-alumina photocatalyst has potential applications in air purification, and the surface treatment method demonstrated in this study can be used to fabricate other environmentally friendly materials in the future.

Summary: This study investigates the degradation of Congo red dye using NiFe2O4 prepared by the sol gel auto-combustion method with glycine as the fuel under sunlight irradiation. A TiO2-NiFe2O4 Z-scheme was constructed to enhance the photoactivity by reducing the recombination of electron/hole pairs. The photocatalysts were characterized by various techniques and the results showed that the p-NiFe2O4/n-TiO2 heterostructure effectively facilitated the charge separation and improved the overall efficiency of the photocatalytic process.

Summary: In this study, silver and yttrium co-doped zinc oxide (Ag-Y-ZnO) nanoparticles were successfully prepared using a sol-gel process. The obtained catalysts were characterized and evaluated for their photocatalytic activity. The Ag-Y-ZnO catalyst exhibited superior performance, with H-2 evolution rates of 587.4 mu molh(-1)g(-1) and 425.4 mu molh(-1)g(-1) under visible and UV light illumination using a water-methanol mixture, respectively. The catalyst also demonstrated good stability and showed enhanced photocatalytic activity due to red shift in light absorption, inhibited recombination of photoinduced charge carriers, and abundant active sites for H-2 evolution reaction.
