Summary: The chondrogenic efficacy of aloe vera blended collagen-chitosan (COL-CS-AV) porous scaffold was investigated using articular chondrocytes. The scaffold showed higher chondrogenic efficacy compared to COL-CS, making it a suitable candidate for cartilage tissue engineering. The study utilized various assays and staining techniques to analyze cytocompatibility, GAG content, RNA content, and expression of cartilage-specific genes and collagen type II.

Summary: The field of bone tissue engineering is developing various bone graft substitute materials to reconstruct new bone tissue while maintaining native bone characteristics. Insufficient scaffold degradation is currently the critical limitation for tailoring bone formation turnover rate. This study examines novel scaffold formulations, and results show that the CS/HAp/FAp 1:1 formulation can improve scaffold degradation and bone regeneration, providing a cost-effective alternative to traditional methods (BMP-2).

Summary: Treating cartilage degenerative disorders is a longstanding challenge in orthopedic medicine due to the limited capacity for self-regeneration in cartilage. This study aimed to develop a nanocomposite biomaterial that enhances growth factor delivery to injured cartilage sites. The findings suggest that the developed nanocomposite hydrogel can serve as a supportive platform for promoting differentiation of human dental pulp stem cells.

Summary: Natural polymers are being increasingly utilized in tissue engineering for their ability to imitate the extracellular matrix and act as a scaffold for cell growth. This study aimed to analyze the repair of mandibular defects filled with a collagen/chitosan scaffold, both with and without dental pulp mesenchymal stem cells (DPSCs). Results showed that the scaffold had an adequate porosity and microstructure, but did not show promising results when combined with DPSCs.
