Summary: This paper examines the estimation of a cross-sectional spatial autoregressive model using spatial weights constructed by bilateral variables, tackling potential endogeneity issues through a control function approach. Two-stage estimation methods are proposed and their consistency and asymptotic normality are established, with finite sample properties explored through Monte Carlo studies. The method is further applied to an empirical study of interactions among different US industries through production networks.

Summary: This paper proposes a hybrid network utilizing RIS to optimize the performance of communication and computation. By decomposing the problem into non-convex and combinatorial problems, and using different optimization techniques to solve them, an alternating optimization algorithm is developed to tackle this complex issue.

Summary: Health problems like obesity are linked to lack of access to healthy food. While urban areas have been studied, rural areas face similar challenges with transportation as a barrier to healthy food access. The study uses cost-based accessibility measures and spatial econometric models to show that urban areas have easier access to healthy food compared to rural areas. The study suggests transportation innovations like mobile markets and ridesharing can improve access.

Summary: The prevalence of physical inactivity and obesity is increasing in regional areas like North-West Tasmania, possibly due to limited access to physical activity infrastructure and healthier food options. Research on both physical activity and food environments in rural areas remains scarce, highlighting the need for more comprehensive studies in addressing these issues. In the three NW Tasmanian communities studied, access to physical activity resources and food outlets varied significantly based on socioeconomic status, with potential implications for the obesogenic nature of these communities.

Summary: This study assesses the spatial vulnerability of rural settlements in hilly areas of Sichuan Province and identifies the main factors affecting their vulnerability. Climate factors, soil erosion degree, and geological hazard hidden danger degree were found to be the three main factors. The study also summarizes the spatial distribution characteristics of the spatial vulnerability of rural settlements in the hilly areas of Sichuan.

Summary: Processed wheat and maize food products (WMPFs) in Mexico City offer a wide range of options, but the availability of healthy WMPFs is limited. Supermarkets in low socioeconomic areas provide more diverse access to healthy WMPFs across all product categories compared to other retail outlets. However, most stores have a lack of stock of healthy WMPFs, making it challenging for urban consumers to find and choose healthy options.

Summary: There is not enough evidence to support the influence of Baby-led weaning (BLW) on infant weight gain and the risk of obesity based on the systematic review conducted. Some studies indicate lower weight gain in infants practicing BLW, while others show inconclusive results. More clinical trials and prospective studies are needed to provide a general recommendation on the best method of weaning to reduce the risk of obesity.

Summary: This study explored the impact of different lifestyle factors on the development of spatial cognition in children. The findings revealed that there is a significant developmental shift in spatial orientation between 2.5 to 3 years of age. Additionally, screen time and gestational weight gain of the mother were negatively associated with spatial task performance.

Summary: Buyer's clubs, originally recognized during the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the 1980s, have seen a resurgence in the past decade with a focus on hepatitis C treatment and PrEP. These community-led organizations aim to improve individual access to medication through knowledge sharing and distribution. While they have enabled thousands to access medicines, there are concerns about perpetuating health inequities and injustice, yet they also have the potential to serve as a tool for health activism to stimulate sustainable changes.

Summary: Previous research shows that policymakers prioritize minimizing opportunity costs rather than balancing conservation benefits and opportunity costs in biodiversity conservation decisions. However, previous studies lacked fine-resolution indicators of biodiversity conservation benefits and opportunity costs, and failed to consider the spatial dependence in observed conservation decisions. This study fills these gaps by estimating conservation choice models for Spain and Italy, incorporating fine-resolution indicators and accounting for spatial dependence. The findings suggest that protected area designations are negatively associated with productive land-uses and that local biodiversity levels play a significant role in protected area location decisions.

Summary: For areas with limited access to food, farmers markets and incentive programs have been suggested to increase the availability of fresh and nutritious food. However, despite these efforts, access to healthful foods remains complex. This study proposes a multi-dimensional indicator of access that considers the availability, affordability, and acceptability of nutritious food within the constraints faced by households. Using a simulation model, the researchers evaluate the impact of adding or removing farmers markets and conventional food retailers on food access in areas with low access. The findings suggest that access to grocery stores plays a larger role in overall food access for SNAP households in Maine counties, highlighting the importance of considering household barriers when implementing additional farmers markets.

Summary: The study examines the resource use and waste disposal in the urban built environment towards sustainability. The results show a rapid increase in demand for building materials in new urban areas, especially reinforced concrete buildings. Recycling waste concrete can greatly reduce waste generation and have significant environmental benefits.

Summary: This study evaluated the digestive tolerability and acceptability of Fibersol-2 in both healthy and diarrheal children aged 1-3 years, as well as its effect on improving stool consistencies in diarrheal children. The results showed that Fibersol-2 was well tolerated in both healthy and diarrheal children.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the impact of local commissioners' policies on body mass index and access to knee replacement surgery in England. The results showed that the introduction of body mass index policies led to a decrease in the rates of knee replacement surgery across all patient groups, not just obese patients. Additionally, there was an increase in the measure of socioeconomic deprivation of patients after policy introduction.

Summary: This paper explores how engineering knowledge is constructed through research into play-based settings and highlights the issues and findings in this area. Studies in play-based settings are guided by practices from certain engineering professions, knowledge construction is based on both pre-defined and new categories, research primarily focuses on construction activities. Gendered engineering knowledge is identified, indicating limited understanding of engineering education.
