Summary: There is a lack of empirical evidence on the effectiveness of psychotherapeutic interventions for mental health problems and disorders in athletes, and the definitions and assessments of these issues vary, leading to limited understanding of the extent of mental health problems and disorders in athletes. Further research is needed to include athletes with established mental health problems and disorders in intervention studies, and the use of N-of-1 trials should be increased to enhance knowledge in this area.

Summary: Psychiatric disorders may exhibit premature cell senescence, but the relationship between leukocyte telomere length (LTL) and response to electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is inconclusive. LTL was found to be shorter in patients with treatment-resistant major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar disorder (BD) compared to controls, but baseline LTL was not predictive of ECT response. No significant overlap between genetic variants associated with LTL and ECT response was observed.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether Early Maladaptive Schemas (EMSs) predict the intensity of mental health treatment for cancer-related psychopathology. The findings revealed that more severe EMSs predicted a higher intensity of mental health treatment. Therefore, assessing EMSs can help identify patients in need of more treatment time.

Summary: Obesity is a complex health condition that increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and metabolic health issues. It also has a significant impact on the patient's mental state, leading to various mental disorders. The gut microbiota plays a vital role in regulating host physiology, and understanding its role in the interaction between obesity and mental disorders is important.

Summary: Natural anticoagulant drugs can be obtained from plants, which have antioxidant, anticoagulant, and antiplatelet properties for treating thrombotic diseases. Studies have shown that many plants contain bioactive compounds with antiplatelet and anticoagulant activity, making them potential candidates for interfering with hemostasis.

Summary: Mental disorders significantly impact children's lives and their emotional, cognitive, and behavioral development. Family support is crucial for the well-being of children, especially those with mental disorders. However, there is a research-practice gap in the Arab region, and few studies have focused on the role of the family in supporting children with mental disorders.

Summary: A comprehensive analysis of the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2019 revealed the disease burden and trends in Australia from 1990 to 2019. Non-communicable diseases remained the leading cause of mortality in Australia, with low back pain, depressive disorders, and other musculoskeletal diseases being the main contributors to disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs). High BMI, smoking, high blood pressure, high fasting plasma glucose, and drug use were identified as the leading risk factors for DALYs. Australia's ranking improved for death rates and life expectancy, but not for years lived with disability (YLDs) and years of life lost (YLLs) compared to similar countries.

Summary: Cognitive behavior therapy is effective for treating patients with medically unexplained symptoms, but those with comorbid mood disorders, anxiety disorders, symptom catastrophizing, somatosensory amplification tendencies, and low self-efficacy have a less favorable outcome. These associations are more pronounced in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome.

Summary: Patients with psychosis showed more pronounced deficits in Cognitive and Affective ToM compared to non-clinical controls, while there were no significant differences in Hyper-ToM errors. Deficits in Cognitive ToM were associated with general delusions, while problems in Affective ToM were linked to negative and disorganized symptoms. Furthermore, there was no association between Hyper-ToM errors and any symptoms when controlling for educational level.

Summary: This study investigated the naturalistic effectiveness of routine inpatient treatment for patients with OCD and identified predictors of treatment outcome. Results indicate that, in addition to established predictors, social support and washing compulsions were identified as important positive predictors. Summary: This study investigated the concordance between the diagnostic criteria for prolonged grief disorder (PGD) in DSM-5-TR and ICD-11. The results showed significant differences in diagnostic rates, mainly due to the time criterion and the presentation of core symptoms. With the potential increase in PGD prevalence rates during the COVID-19 pandemic, practitioners should be cautious about the diagnostic rule used and consider a stepped-care approach if there is uncertainty about the presence of full-blown PGD.

Summary: Previous research on the relationship between social status and pain has produced inconsistent findings. This study aimed to explore the causal relationship between perceived social status and pain thresholds through experimental manipulation. Fifty-one female undergraduates were assigned to either a low or high-status condition. Participants' pain thresholds were measured before and after manipulating their perception of social status. The results showed that participants in the low-status condition reported increased pain thresholds after the manipulation, while those in the high-status condition reported decreased pain thresholds (beta = 0.22; 95% CI, 0.002 to 0.432; p < .05). These findings suggest that perceived social status may have a causal effect on pain thresholds.
