Summary: Circular RNAs (circRNA) have gained significant attention as new components of disease mechanisms and potential biomarkers in various diseases, including cancer. They are highly conserved and show specific expression patterns in different developmental stages and diseases. Numerous studies have identified circRNA expression patterns associated with specific cancer types and patient prognosis. This article provides an overview of registered clinical trials investigating the value of circRNAs as cancer biomarkers and discusses their potential in clinical cancer care. Overall, circRNAs are actively being studied as diagnostic, predictive, and prognostic biomarkers, and their potential as therapeutic targets support ongoing translational and clinical research.

Summary: This study demonstrated the biological relevance of circCSPP1 and HnRNP-L in the progression of prostate cancer, indicating that increased circCSPP1 in prostate cancer cells regulated by HnRNP-L can induce autophagy, leading to enhanced proliferation, migration, and invasion. Furthermore, a potential competing endogenous RNA network involving circCSPP1, miR-520h, and EGR1 was revealed in prostate cancer cells, suggesting its significance in prostate cancer progression.

Summary: This study found that Helicobacter pylori can induce the upregulation of circMAN1A2 in gastric cancer cells, and the downregulation of circMAN1A2 can inhibit the growth and invasion of gastric cancer cells. Furthermore, circMAN1A2 promotes the progression of H. pylori-induced gastric cancer by regulating the expression of MTA2. This study suggests that circMAN1A2 may be a potential diagnostic marker and therapeutic target for gastric cancer.

Summary: This review summarizes the research on the role of non-coding RNA (ncRNA) in cataracts. Recent studies have found that ncRNA plays a significant role in cataract formation by regulating cellular activities. Due to its importance in cataracts, further research on novel regulatory mechanisms is urgently needed, and the development of alternative therapies for cataract treatment seems promising.

Summary: The specific circRNA circHAS2 was upregulated in gastric cancer tissues and cells, and was positively correlated with tumor metastasis. Knockdown of circHAS2 or addition of hsa-miR-944 mimics inhibited proliferation, migration, and invasion of GC cells. The circHAS2/hsa-miR-944/PPM1E axis may be involved in the progression of GC, suggesting circHAS2 as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for GC.
