Summary: This study aims to evaluate the completeness of reporting of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published in rehabilitation journals and investigate the relationship between reporting completeness and risk of bias (ROB). The study found that reporting completeness is suboptimal and associated with ROB, journal impact ranking, and registration of the study protocol.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the reporting quality of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) using adaptive design (AD) based on the 2020 AD Consolidated Standards for Reporting Trials 2010 extension (ACE) guidelines. A total of 109 RCTs were included in the study, and the mean compliance rate for the ACE checklist items was found to be 69.75% ± 16.02. Key methodological items, such as allocation concealment, were poorly reported, and there was suboptimal reporting of checklist items related to interim analyzes. The study concluded that stricter adherence to the ACE guidelines is necessary to improve the reporting quality of RCTs with AD.

Summary: Evidence suggests that the patient-reported outcome (PRO) content in cancer trial protocols is frequently inadequate, and non-reporting of PRO findings is common. Factors influencing suboptimal integration of PROs into trials include late inclusion of PROs in trial design, PROs being considered less important compared to survival, and lack of staff training. Strategies to address these issues include training research personnel and improving communication with site staff and patients.

Summary: This study aims to describe patient and public involvement (PPI) in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) addressing chronic conditions and analyze whether PPI is associated with trial characteristics. The results showed that 40% of the RCTs reported PPI at any stage of the research process, with the majority occurring at the design stage and the conduct stage. PPI RCTs were more likely to be published in The BMJ, have authors from the United Kingdom, report public funding, have a higher inclusion rate, use usual care as a control, and evaluate a digital intervention.

Summary: Young veterinarians face high levels of stress and burnout during the transition to practice, with self-care, conflict management, and client communication being identified as crucial professional skills for success. Qualitative research on the experiences of new graduate veterinarians highlights the importance of preparing these individuals for the challenges they will face in their early careers, particularly in handling financial constraints and conflicts with clients.

Summary: This paper proposes an adaptive randomisation procedure for two-stage randomised controlled trials. The method uses data from a first-wave experiment to determine stratification in a second wave of the experiment. The main result shows that using this randomisation procedure with an appropriate estimator results in a minimal asymptotic variance in the class of stratification trees.

Summary: Bayesian clinical trials are gaining popularity due to their adaptive, flexible, and versatile nature. Compared to frequentist trial designs, there are fewer established guidelines on reporting Bayesian trials. This article provides a general overview of key components in the design, conduct, and analysis of Bayesian trials, as well as detailed dos and don'ts for reporting guidelines.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the proportion of patients undergoing endovascular therapy for femoropopliteal arterial disease who would be eligible for participation in randomized controlled trials investigating the efficacy of paclitaxel-based devices. The results showed that the patient population in these trials may not be representative of those receiving endovascular therapy in routine clinical practice.

Summary: Effective communication skills are crucial for veterinary graduates to succeed in their professional practice. Teaching methods and assessment strategies for veterinary communication skills are continuously evolving and supported by research. However, some students struggle to apply the skills learned in simulated consultations to real-life clinical settings, particularly when explaining their clinical decision-making and assisting clients in making treatment decisions. This article discusses three recent developments in communication skills training in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program at the University of Sydney, highlighting the importance of student-centered design and increasing the realism and authenticity of the learning experience.

Summary: We conclude that careful triangulation of MR with RCT evidence should involve consideration of similarity of phenotypes across study designs, intervention intensity and duration, study population demography and health status, comparator group, intervention goal and quality of evidence.

Summary: Due to the importance of communication skills in the professional success of veterinarians, there is a focus on developing communication classes in veterinary curricula. At Freie Universitat Berlin, an e-learning course and a practical communication course have been established. The study investigated the impact of these courses on the relevance of veterinary competencies and the self-assessment of communication skills. The findings showed that the practical course had a significant impact on the students' perception of the importance of communicative competencies and their self-assessment of communication skills.

Summary: Hematocrit values measured with electrical conductivity in chelonians significantly underestimated manual packed cell volume by about 4%. There was a negative correlation between the value of total solids and the difference between the methods. Controlling for other factors, the magnitude of the disagreement was not affected by the sex of the chelonian but was smaller in red-eared sliders (Trachemys scripta elegans).

Summary: The study reported the long-term outcomes of MicroPulse transscleral diode cyclophotocoagulation in dogs, finding a reduction in intraocular pressure postoperatively and a significant prolongation of time to treatment failure with laser settings >2000 mW. MP-TSCP was shown to be an effective treatment for refractory glaucoma in dogs.

Summary: This manuscript presents a protocol for a systematic review that aims to assess the prevalence of honorary authorship issues in health sciences. The study will search and evaluate surveys of authors of scientific publications in this field, and data synthesis and quantitative analysis will be conducted. The outcomes of this review will provide insights into the magnitude of honorary authorship in health sciences and guide future research in addressing this problem.

Summary: This cross-sectional study investigated whether adverse effects of orthodontic interventions were reported or considered in the abstracts of systematic reviews, and whether there was spin on adverse effects. The study found that 76.5% of the reviews reported or considered the potential adverse effects, and the proportion of spin on adverse effects in the abstracts was 40.8%.
