Summary: Since its first description in 2013, there has been growing evidence supporting the efficacy and safety of endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG). Some studies have even reported 5-year data, and ESG combined with pharmacotherapy may achieve weight loss similar to surgical sleeve gastrectomy. While ongoing randomized trials are awaited, current data support the clinical use of ESG, especially for patients who are unwilling or unfit for bariatric surgery.

Summary: The quality of weight loss procedure videos on TikTok is poor, with videos created by physicians having higher quality but less popularity. Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) videos have higher quality compared to videos related to Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) and vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG). Educational videos have higher quality compared to weight loss transformation and personal experience videos.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed over 2000 patients to evaluate the safety of endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) assisted by postgraduate medical trainees. The results showed that procedures performed by attending physicians alone had lower adverse event rates and re-operation rates, while procedures assisted by trainees had longer duration and length of stay.

Summary: Endoscopy is the preferred treatment for post-bariatric leaks and fistulas, but for larger defects, endoscopic vacuum therapy or self-expanding metal stents are recommended. Stent migration is a major limitation, leading to the development of specifically designed stents for leaks after bariatric surgery. The Niti-S-Beta stent is the most commonly used.
