Summary: This study assessed the publication productivity of Central Asian countries (CACs) since 1996 using SCImago Journal & Country Rank (SJR) data. Despite their solid scientific nature, CACs are less visible in the global scientific environment. The study found that CACs have an increasing number of articles, but they are not at the forefront of scientific productivity in the Asiatic Region.

Summary: The study found gender disparities in emergency medicine, with male physicians outnumbering females in terms of number of publications, citations, h-index, and last authorship. Female physicians were at a disadvantage in all areas analyzed. Future attention needs to be paid to these disparities and action taken to address and narrow the gap.

Summary: This study compared the retrieval performance of the SR publication type and the most sensitive CQ for systematic review articles. The results showed that the SR publication type had high precision and specificity but low recall, while the CQ had much higher recall. By adding the SR publication type or CQ to the search, valid systematic review articles can be added at a low cost.

Summary: This study analysed the content and author characteristics of articles published in the British Journal of Guidance and Counselling (BJGC) from 2000-2019 to identify trends over time. The BJGC publishes the highest number of total articles and guidance and counselling research articles annually, except for the Journal of Counseling & Development. The University of Leeds was the leading contributor to the journal. The proportion of lead authors affiliated with UK universities or non-university institutions decreased, while the proportion of women authors and collaborations increased. More research-based articles were published, with approximately 55% using qualitative approaches and 12% evaluating guidance and counselling interventions. Over the past two decades, participant samples have become smaller and less randomisation has been used.

Summary: This research evaluates the publication of scholarly journals in Lithuania by analyzing the owners and publishers. The results indicate a significant growth in the number of Lithuanian scholarly journals published since 1990. While social publishers, primarily state-funded institutions, still dominate the market, commercial publishers have also emerged. Lithuanian publishers have made efforts to take over and reorganize journals from the Soviet era, adapting to the digitalization of scholarly publishing.

Summary: This study assessed the availability of ORCID in articles indexed in PubMed, MEDLINE, and the Web of Science Core Collection databases, showing an overall increase in usage over time. However, the percentage of articles with ORCID in PubMed remains relatively low, with the authors attributing this to the tedious and time-consuming process of entering ORCID during submission. The comparison between PubMed and MEDLINE also revealed differences in ORCID implementation methods, with MEDLINE showing higher usage due to collecting ORCID from the ORCID registry.

Summary: This study reports on the scientific production and publication trends of artificial intelligence (AI) in ophthalmology research. The results show that AI in ophthalmology is a very attractive topic with a high growth rate in publications over the last ten years. The study identifies the most productive journals, countries, international collaborations, and major MeSH terms involved in this research area. The findings indicate that AI in ophthalmology research mainly focuses on retinal diseases and glaucoma, and is mainly technical research related to engineering and computing.
