Summary: The objective of this research study was to investigate a new natural cellulosic fiber extracted from the stem of Abutilon Indicum plants as an alternative reinforcement in greener composite materials. The fiber was found to be sustainable, ecofriendly, and novel, making it suitable for characterization study. The physical, chemical, thermal, morphological, crystallinity, chemical constituents, and surface characteristics of the fiber were analyzed. The research findings conclude that the fiber proves to be an ideal, alternative reinforcement in greener composite materials for sustainable and cleaner production of components in structural applications.

Summary: This study evaluated the Cu uptake, mobility, and accumulation in Cyperus rotundus under copper stress conditions. It found that the plant has limited Cu translocation from roots to shoots, accumulates Cu in underground tissues, and can be considered a hyper phytostabilizer. Additionally, it suggested that Cyperus rotundus could be used as safe forage in copper contaminated environments based on certain physiological indices.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of adding the chelating agent ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) on the uptake of cadmium (Cd) by different Brassica species (Brassica juncea L., Brassica campestris L., and Brassica napus L.). Results showed that, with increasing Cd and EDTA levels, the overall root dry biomass of all tested species decreased, while Brassica juncea exhibited the highest Cd accumulation at certain Cd and EDTA levels.

Summary: This study investigates natural fiber reinforced nonwoven fabric composites, which have the potential to enhance mechanical and thermal properties while reducing costs. The composites were prepared using varying weight percentages of Abutilon indicum (AI) fibers and subjected to mechanical, thermal, and morphological analysis. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to examine the bonding behavior of the composites. The results showed that the highest tensile and flexural strengths were observed at 35 wt% fiber content, reaching 39.796 MPa and 62.329 MPa, respectively. The maximum impact strength and compressive strength were 0.441 joules and 47.45 MPa, also at 35 wt% fiber content.

Summary: Sedum alfredii, a Cd/Zn hyperaccumulator native to China, showed high tolerance and accumulation ability to Mn while also significantly affecting the hyperaccumulation of Cd. High Mn exposure reduced the plant uptake of Cd, but at the same time increased its accumulation in the roots and shoots of the plant.

Summary: A cellulose-degrading anaerobic bacterium Paracoccus sp. Strain LZ-G1 was isolated from cow dung, capable of degrading cellulose and adsorbing Cd2+. Bioaugmentation with this strain in an AD system significantly increased biogas and methane production from HM-containing plant residues and cow manure. Restoration of the microbial community by LZ-G1 bioaugmentation improved biogas yield and methane production rate during the AD process.
