Summary: The study presents a novel synthesis method for phenylboronic acid-functionalized copolypeptides based on an L-boronophenylalanine N-carboxyanhydride (BPA-NCA) monomer, and demonstrates their potential for co-encapsulation and responsive release of dual anticancer drugs. The synthesized copolypeptides show controlled compositions and can self-assemble into uniform micellar nanoparticles for drug delivery. The resulting nanoparticles exhibit enhanced anticancer effects and have potential applications in smart cancer nanomedicines.

Summary: Efficient dispersion of nanoparticles (NPs) in coatings, inks, and related materials is a crucial challenge. Physical adsorption and chemical modification are common methods, but suffer from desorption and limited versatility. To address these issues, we developed a novel photo-cross-linked polymeric dispersant, bPEA, which forms a dense and stable shell on the surface of pigment NPs through physical adsorption and subsequent chemical photo-cross-linking. These dispersants show high stability and compatibility with various printing methods, providing uniformity, color fastness, and less color shading in ornamental products.

Summary: This study investigates the behavior of ninhydrin (N) and phenylalanine (Phe) in a cationic gemini micellar system using a spectrophotometer. The results show that the reaction of N follows fractional-order kinetics, while the reaction of Phe follows first-order kinetics. The gemini surfactant system significantly catalyzes the reactions, even at concentrations lower than the critical micelle concentration (cmc).

Summary: A new method of stimuli-responsive proteinosome fabrication using shell cross-linked micelle as a template was reported in this research. The proteinosomes had a size of about 50 nm and capsule-like structures, were thermoresponsive with a phase transition temperature at 35 degrees C. The proteinosome showed low toxicity to cells and could be internalized. The fabrication had no significant influence on the structure and activity of the protein.

Summary: This study introduces a novel method for the selective extraction and recovery of total rare earth elements (REEs) using elastin-like polypeptide (ELP) and the REE-binding domain (lanmodulin). By controlling solution temperature and pH, RELP shows high REE specificity and allows for easy recovery of bound REEs during repeated cycles.

Summary: Polymeric micelles assembled from star-shaped amphiphilic copolymers have potential as a delivery tool for cancer treatment due to their long half-life, cancer-specific internalization, and controlled release of drugs. In this study, a biotin-decorated and diselenide-linked star-shaped amphiphilic copolymer was used to form stable micelles with high drug loading content and encapsulation efficiency. The micelles showed selective cytotoxicity against cancer cells and desirable drug release in a simulated cancer environment.

Summary: The study found that the topology of comb-shaped anion exchange membranes has a significant impact on membrane properties, with membranes where side chains are grafted onto backbones showing better ion conduction and chemical stability compared to those with side chains tethered to cations. Increasing side chain length enhances the chemical stability of the membranes.

Summary: The combination of cyclic and linear segments offers a promising opportunity to create polymeric materials with intriguing physical properties. This study focuses on the design of comb-like-linear diblock copolymers to achieve thermoresponsive and aggregation properties. Toothbrush-like and jellyfish-like copolymers with grafts of poly(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate) tethered to a linear or cyclic polyacrylate-block-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) backbone were synthesized. The self-assembly of these copolymers resulted in various nanostructures through thermo/pH-induced changes, and the cyclic architecture played a significant role in the self-assembly process.

Summary: This study investigated the properties of cyclic cylindrical polymer brushes (CPBs) with a ringlike morphology for the first time and found that they are more prone to non-specific protein adsorption compared to their linear counterparts. Despite lower cellular uptake and tumor permeability, cyclic CPBs exhibited excellent passive tumor targeting ability and achieved a tumor uptake of about 8.2% of the injected dose per gram of tissue after a single intravenous administration.
