Summary: The study found that the SlHY5 gene in the purple tomato variety 'Indigo Rose' plays a key role in anthocyanin biosynthesis in plants. However, residual anthocyanins still exist in the Slhy5 mutant, indicating the presence of an anthocyanin induction pathway independent of HY5. The omics analysis showed significant differences in the expression levels of genes associated with anthocyanin biosynthesis between 'Indigo Rose' and the Slhy5 mutant, suggesting that SlHY5 plays an important role in flavonoid biosynthesis in both tomato seedlings and fruits.

Summary: Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascades and ethylene play important roles in plant growth, development, and stress responses. This study focused on their potential mechanisms in cold resistance and found that SlMAPK3 transcript levels were induced by cold treatment in an ethylene-dependent manner. Overexpression of SlMAPK3 led to increased proline content and reduced ion leakage under cold stress, and upregulation of genes involved in ethylene-activated signaling, cold signaling, and heat signaling pathways. Knockout of SlMAPK3 reduced ethylene production, ACC content, and ACS activity, as well as the positive effect of ethylene in cold stress. This study provides insights into the novel mechanism of SlMAPK3 in ethylene-mediated cold tolerance.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanism by which Bacillus subtilis CNBG-PGPR-1 enhances plant salt tolerance. The results showed that CNBG-PGPR-1 improves tomato leaf salt tolerance by activating complex molecular pathways, particularly the plant hormone signal transduction pathway. The study also revealed that CNBG-PGPR-1 induces methionine accumulation to regulate the ethylene pathway, thereby enhancing plant salt tolerance. Furthermore, CNBG-PGPR-1 reduces salt-induced oxidative stress by activating ROS scavenger-encoding genes.

Summary: Studying the transient inhibition of 1-MCP during tomato fruit ripening revealed that although 1-MCP effectively inhibited climacteric ripening, it led to higher ethylene production levels in treated fruit. Additionally, the protein abundance of ethylene receptors and CTRs decreased in 1-MCP treated fruit, potentially activating downstream ethylene signaling and gene expression, compensating for the ripening inhibition.

Summary: In this study, it was discovered that interfacial hydrophobic hydration significantly enhances H-bond networks at the interface between a glycan-modified adsorbent and a methanol-water-acetonitrile ternary solution. This enhancement promotes the adsorbent-solution heterogeneous glycan-glycan recognition and interaction, leading to improved glycopeptide enrichment. Compared with the commonly used hydrophilic-interaction enrichment strategy, more intact N- and O-glycopeptides are identified and the enrichment recoveries are significantly increased. This study also provides in-depth profiling of N- and O-glycosylation on SARS-CoV-2 S1 and hACE2 proteins.

Summary: This article proposes a possible mechanism that people may have underconfidence bias in information updating due to motivated reasoning, which generates the asymmetric pattern in contagion, different from the overconfident bias observed in the literature. The study designs an experiment to relate unethical behavior to social learning, where subjects decide whether to conduct unethical behavior publicly based on private information about penalty. The results confirm that people rely more on others' decisions than their own signal, suggesting the bias facilitates the contagion.

Summary: High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a physical therapy that can alleviate osteoarthritis (OA)-associated hyperalgesia. Cacna2d1, a subunit protein of calcium channel, plays a crucial role in nerve cell activity. However, the effect of HIIT on OA hyperalgesia and the involvement of Cacna2d1 remains unclear. In this study, OA rat models were established using monosodium iodoacetate (MIA) injection, and different groups were compared. Pain threshold, cartilage analysis, Cacna2d1 expression, and pain neurotransmitters were measured. The results demonstrated that HIIT could attenuate OA-associated hyperalgesia, possibly through the down-regulation of Cacna2d1 expression.

Summary: This study proposes a cross-space convolutional neural network (CS-CNN) for the classification of four-class motor imagery-electroencephalogram (MI-EEG), aiming to improve classification accuracy and robustness. The algorithm utilizes modified customized band common spatial patterns (CBCSP) and duplex mean-shift clustering (DMSClustering) to express specific rhythms and source distribution information in cross-space, and extracts multi-view features from time, frequency, and space domains to fuse the characteristics from two spaces and classify them using CNN. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves a classification accuracy of 96.05% (with real MRI information) and 94.79% (without MRI) in the private dataset. Moreover, in the BCI competition IV-2a, CS-CNN outperforms state-of-the-art algorithms with an accuracy improvement of 1.98% and a standard deviation reduction of 5.15%.

Summary: This study found a negative correlation between the neurotransmitter serotonin and the cytokines IL-5 and IL-13 produced by ILC2s, which are related to depression. Serotonin can alleviate lung inflammation by suppressing ILC2 activation. The serotonin receptor HTR2A is highly expressed on ILC2s and can be targeted with an agonist called DOI to inhibit ILC2 activation and reduce type 2 immune response. Targeting HTR2A on ST2(+) ILC2s could be a potential treatment strategy for type 2 lung inflammation.
